MARCH MADNESS!!!
Road to the Final Quarter…….
HMB UPCOMING EVENTS
By Tracy Hanzal, Superintendent
The month of March is extremely exciting for
me. Spring is on its way, which is my favorite
season, actually making the next few months
exciting for me. I love the spring months mostly
because all of my children were born in the spring.
Ava and Hayden were born in March, and Kameron
was born in April. Our family time is so fun during
those birthdays and I love that they are so close
together. Also, March is the month where college
basketball holds its annual men’s tournament.
College basketball is my favorite sport and
tournament time is a fun time for me as well.
As you can see, March holds many exciting times
for me and my family each year. In school, March
holds many activities as well. We will be holding
NWEA Map testing and the ND State Assessment
this month. The third quarter ends and fourth
quarter begins! Seriously, the last quarter of our
school year! It doesn’t seem real. The school year
has gone so fast. Parent-Teacher Conferences are
scheduled this month and we begin our onslaught of
spring activities, including basketball post-season
tournaments, music contests, speech, golf, track
and field, and academic Olympics. As we turn the
corner to the last quarter of the school year, it is
important to remember to keep our students
positively engaged into what is truly important for
their education. We, as educators and parents, are
required to keep them motivated and encouraged
about their education, to prepare them for their
future and to be our future leaders.
In closing this month, prepare yourself for the
madness of March. With so many things taking
place at school, work, and in our personal lives,
remember to take a step back and take a look at the
big picture. Life is about preparing ourselves for the
next big step and if we get too wrapped up in the
little things in our daily schedules, we find to be
unprepared for what really is important.
In
education, many little things try to distract us from
what is important, and that is making sure our
students are ready for the next big step.
Enjoy the month of March. I look forward to our
activities and wish our HMB students the best in the
upcoming competitions! Oh, and on a more
personal note, Go Duke!
