JCPS team wins regional
Academic WorldQuest
A team of students from duPont Manual High won first place in the regional Academic
WorldQuest competition held in early February at the Muhammad Ali Center.
Academic WorldQuest is an annual competition that tests students’ knowledge of
international affairs. Six teams competed at the regional event, which was open to all
Kentucky and Southern Indiana high schools.
D.D. Williamson & Co., Inc., a food industry company with a facility in Louisville, is the
travel sponsor for the winning team. The company will pay for the Manual students’
expenses to Washington, D.C., where the team will compete in the national Academic
WorldQuest on Sat., Apr. 25.
Students on the winning team are Nivedita Khandkar, Shravan Ravishankar, Matthew
Raj, and Madan Subheeswar. The alternate is Abilash Thout. The coach is Esther
Tamplin. The coordinator, Carole Sanders.
World Affairs Councils of America sponsors the national competition. The regional event
is sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Kentucky & Southern Indiana. High
schools interested in forming a team now for next year’s competition should contact
