For Immediate Release February 27, 2015 Contact : Hana Kwon info@capeusa.org 323.379.4509 9 FELLOWS SELECTED FOR 3RD ANNUAL CAPE NEW WRITERS FELLOWSHIP Nine Fellows have been selected to participate in Intensive 11Session Program Led by Top Industry Leaders Los Angeles, CA – CAPE (The Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment) kicks off the third annual CAPE New Writers Fellowship, an evolution of the CAPE New Writers Awards, which identified emerging AAPI talent for the past 14 years. The Fellows were selected from a diverse pool of applicants by entertainment industry professionals. Each writer or writing team will participate in an intensive 11session program and receive a $1,000 cash stipend upon completion of the program. This year’s fellows are: Tiffany Shaw Ho, Teresa Huang, Bo Yeon Kim & Erika Lippoldt, Kevin Lau, Eliza Lee, Eugene Ramos, Marisa Tam, and Julie Wong. Led by top industry writers, producers, agents and executives, the Fellowship is cochaired by Steve Tao (television executive, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot) and Leo Chu (EP/Creator, “Supah Ninjas,” “Afro Samurai”). The sessions also include writing labs, in which Fellows will revise their scripts under the mentorship of highlevel industry professionals. The signature program furthers CAPE’s mission to champion diversity by educating, connecting, and empowering Asian American & Pacific Islander artists and leaders in entertainment and media. The Fellowship is designed to nurture emerging film and TV writers through intimate workshops and writing labs to help them become the voices that create future positive portrayals of AAPI’s in film, television, and digital media. “CAPE has always given the community networking opportunities with industry leaders and peers, but also created unique opportunities to help emerging artists succeed," said Wenda Fong, CAPE CoFounder & Board Chair Emeritus.
