I.S.Mu.L.T. Presentation
The Italian Society of Muscles, Ligaments and Tendons (www.ismult.
com) is a young scientific society which was founded in 2010. Its
distinctive feature is that it is Multidisciplinary. In fact all the active
members are healthcare professionals and non, involved in the field
of Sports Traumatology, in particular in the study and care of Muscles,
Ligaments and Tendons.
With its initiatives, the passion of its Founders and all its Members
as well as the historical figures of Italian Orthopedics who support
it, I.S.Mu.L.T. hopes to attract young doctors and other young
professionals in-training, so a system based on merit and evidence
based medicine may steadily grow in our country.
Ligaments Muscles & Tendons Journal (www.mltj.org) is the society’s
Official journal, it is present in all major search engines (Scopus, PubMed etc.) and is pending Impact Factor .
Furthermore the aims of the Society are to:
1. promote and encourage new surgical techniques, new applications
of biotechnology in the treatment of disorders of MusclesLigaments-Tendons, starting from basic scientific knowledge,.
2. promote the exchanging of ideas and experience between Italian and
foreign specialists;
3. develop continuing medical education of its Members with annual
programs in CME educational activities reserved for the Members;
4. develop trials and guidelines in collaboration with the Ministry of
Health, Regional Governments and Healthcare companies, public
bodies and institutions;
5. organize quality assessment systems of the activities carried out.

The institutional aims of the Foundation are:
• to promote research and education for a health care system centred around the
person and there fore more humane
• spread the scientific culture, in particular for prevention and regenerative
medicine and surgery develop basic and applied research projects, from stem
cells to biotechnologies, involving young Italian researchers, in turn avoiding the
“brain drain”
• contribute to education and scientific development in the biomedical field, also in

The Mission
The Foundation’s Mission, non-profit and in respect of the ethical, moral and cultural
principles dictated by the founders can be summarized as follows:
• promote the organization of conferences in order to disseminate the scientific
results attained both by their own researchers and by international research
centres and universities in general
• to promote studies and research in medicine with particular attention to the fields
of orthopaedics, biologic-bio mechanics, genetics and tissue engineering as well
as bioengineering, biomechanics and oncology
• to promote meetings and create collaborations and interaction with the
institutions, universities, public and private study centres, including specific
projects of support and economic aid
• to promote socially supportive activities through specific projects for support
and economic aid in favour of the disadvantaged or institutions or religious
congregations which operate in the field of solidarity and humanitarian aid
• to promote the study of methods and systems to develop and improve both
the surgical and diagnostic procedures of diseases by means of stem cell
transplantation as well as by using other experimental techniques
• to promote initiatives for scientific propaganda both in the schools and national
and international university settings besides permanent education and up dates
for health personnel
• to develop and organize centres, at a national and international level for E.B.M.
(Evidence Based Medicine)
• to develop and organize centres, nation- and worldwide for the development of
experimental surgery and novel techniques.

How to reach the ICLO Teaching and Research Center
The course will be held at the ICLO Teaching and Research Center - St. Francis de
Sales, housed within the Nicola’s Foundation in Arezzo (12, via A. Einstein). By car:
take the Autostrada del Sole “A1” highway, turn off at the Arezzo exit and follow the
signs for “Arezzo-Bibbiena-Sansepolcro”.
After about 5 km, turn right onto Via Luigi Galvani and continue for approx. 500
mt then turn left onto Via Lebole. Take the underpass and turn left onto Via Fratelli
Lumiere. You will see the Hotel AC Arezzo sign; the Congress venue is the pink
building behind the AC Hotel Arezzo.
