Civic commissioner, D T Waghmare said, "We will look into the proposal. I am planning to introduce a third party audit system for effective monitoring of norms, as laid down under the General Development Control Regulations (GDCR)." The audit will ensure that occupants have followed all measures while obtaining the occupancy certificate and also to avail facilities proposed by the civic body. The GDCR already have provisions for solar water heating system, rain water harvesting and recycled water for bigger complexes. But buildings under GRIHA rating have to adhere to an entire gamut of green norms starting with site selection to optimal use of natural resources and a third party audit system done every three to five years. This system will come handy for new structures to be constructed while redeveloping old Cidco buildings. Prashant Belapur: The state-of-the art new civic headquarters of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) located at CBDBelapur has been given a gold ranking recently for its environment-friendly design. The ranking was given by LEED-India, the Indian arm of the international rating body. The rating is considered a first to be awarded to any civic headquarters in the country for its environment-friendly design. It is also the first among government buildings in the city to get the rating, said a project architect from Hiten Sethi & Associates, the consultants hired by the civic body for designing the grand structure. Prashant Panvel: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Panvel has observed a dip in registration of imported cars in the satellite city in the last few years, claimed its officials. As per the statistics around 73 cars were registered from 1st April 2012 to 31st March 2013 and a total tax of Rs. 8,48,34,798 was collected. While 81 vehicles were registered between 2013 to 2014 and a tax of Rs. 9,7,86,789 was collected.
