About the Honorees
Linda and Brian Bertan moved to Merrick in 1993 with their sons Matt and Ben. They spent their first Shabbat at Ohav Sholom
and were immediately captivated by the sense of community. Their third son Daniel was born a year later. Linda has held various
positions in Ohav’s Sisterhood, running Hanukkah luncheons and shopping for the Sukkah Hop. Brian leveraged his technical skills to
establish Ohav’s online presence, while serving on the Board as Trustee, Corresponding Secretary, and other positions, prior to serving
as Synagogue President from 2007 to 2009. The Bertan family is also deeply committed to the Democratic and Jewish State of Israel.
Serving on the annual South Shore FIDF Dinner Committee, they raise funds to benefit Lone Soldiers of the IDF. Closer to home, they
passionately support university organizations that stand with Israel and promote Jewish life for students.
