The 8th Annual Japanese Language Festival (JLfest 2014) JCS Script Drawing Competition Objective The competition aims at motivating reading and cultivating creativity among Japanese language learners by giving them an opportunity to interpret and visualize a given text in Japanese. Rules and Regulations 4.3 4.4 This must be read together with the ‘Competition Common Rules of the 2015 JLfest’. 1. ELIGIBILITY This is an individual competition and has no age limit. 2. NO OF ENTRANTS There is no limit to the total number of contestants. 3. PRIZES 1st Prize: Certificate & prize 2nd Prize: Certificate & prize 3rd Prize: Certificate & Prize All remaining contestants shall receive a Certificate of Participation. 4. GENERAL RULES 4.1 Medium: You may draw, paint, sketch, use pens, pencils, crayons, charcoal, oil, acrylic paint or watercolor to create your artwork. 4.2 Theme: Your artwork must be based on a scene that you interpret or visualize from reading the given script of the 5th Japanese Choral Speaking Competition for Secondary Schools 2014 「七兄弟」. 4.5 4.6 4.7 The caption “七兄弟@JLfest 2015” should be included in the artwork. Your full name and name of institution (eg school) should be printed at the back of the artwork. Art Work Size: Your art work should be executed on art paper or on stretched canvas. The size is limited to A3 (420 x 297mm). Execution: You may plan or practice how you wish to compose your art work, prior to the competition. However, you are to execute your actual art work only on the day of the Competition (ie May 10, 2015 @ JFfest 2015), without any references. Copying or tracing is NOT allowed. You will be given 90 minutes. Originality: The art work must be your original work. Tools & Materials: On the day of the contest, you are to bring your own tools and materials. Limitation: You are allowed to submit only ONE art work. 5. SELECTION AND JUDGING CRITERIA All entries will be assessed according to the followings: Creativity Relevance to the theme Aesthetics Craftsmanship 6. JUDGING PANEL The judging panel shall be appointed by the organizers. Decision of the panel is final. The panel may also exercise sole discretion to make or withhold an award. 1 7. DISQUALIFICATION The contestant will be disqualified if found a) plagiarizing the works of others b) infringing the trademarks or copyrights of others c) having offensive wordings, religious verses/icons/symbols or political slogans d) containing, in the opinion of the organizer, obscene images or illustrations in his/her works 8. COPYRIGHT All contestants’ work will be the property of the Japanese Language Society of Malaysia (JLSM) and shall not be returned to the contestants. By entering this competition, contestants agree to allow JLSM perpetual, royalty-free license to reproduce, display, distribute and showcase of the works as well as to publish. Registration Procedure Complete the below entry form and submit it to jlfest.competition@gmail.com by March 5, 2015. The original entry form must be submitted when reporting to the Competition Secretariat Booth at the festival. Failing which, you may not be allowed to compete.
