These clinics are open to all Carroll County 4 th and 5th grade violin, viola, cello, and double bass players. Students will receive instruction on basic string technique that will serve as an extension upon what they learn in their school instrumental music classes. The remaining sessions will be held on Tuesdays, March 17 and March 24 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Westminster Elementary School in the cafeteria. The Elementary and Middle Level Visual Arts Exhibit, featuring selected artwork by elementary and middle school students, will be held at the Carroll County Arts Council through March 18. This is the first time the production will be brought to the stage in Carroll County. The featured speaker will be Tori Saylor, whose life changed forever when she was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at the age of 19. During the speech, entitled My Journey to Self-Determination, Saylor will discuss her journey from childhood to self-determined adulthood and relive the significant milestones that helped to transform her into the independent adult that she has continuously strived to be. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Manchester Valley High School. The event is named in honor of Sherri-Le Bream, former Director of High Schools, who worked with the Kiwanis Clubs to bring this program to our high schools. This special day includes activities designed to spotlight some of the wonderful talents and skills of our high school students. Students who would like to participate must register by April 1. Junior Liz Leahy earned recognition as WTTR’s Athlete of the Week for her 1A State Championship in the high jump at the MPSSAA 2015 State Championship by jumping 4 feet 11inches, and her second place finish in the hurdles.
