Nurses who attend to their own healing are more resilient and creative in their daily caring for others who are experiencing loss and grief. We learn from each other’s stories about coping with painful human experiences, such as grieving the loss of a loved one. This aesthetic presentation is a nurse’s story about her year-long journey with grief, told through personal voice, poetry, photography, music, and reflective conversations with a tree and self. This story serves as an example of how reflective practice and giving voice to personal journeys build resiliency. A Trio of Take-Home Resilience Tools Kathleen Neuman, MSN, RN, HSMI has been a psychiatric nurse since 1972 and is an adjunct Assistant Nursing Professor at Madonna University. She is a certified Laughter Yoga® leader and Holistic Stress Management instructor. Kathy will close the day with easily accessed resilience tools to take home. We’ll learn quick and practical ways to practice resilience on the go, incorporating gratitude, mindfulness and perspective. And we’ll have a bit of fun with it too!
