TRAINING INITIATIVE: BASICS OF QUALITY PRODUCT AND SERVICES
Basic logistics activity begins with booking goods, loading in trucks, unloading, stacking, and ends with delivery.
An error, say while marking, weighing, loading, unloading, stacking or delivery has a cascading effect leading
to an unhappy customer, loss of opportunity, additional costs and involvement of the entire machinery in
unproductive activity, stress included.
In short, for the basics to be right, the staff at the ground level has to be perfect. Valuing their role and to further
enhance their skills, the Company has initiated another pathbreaking training initiative entitled, “Basics of
Quality Product and Services”. The program kicked off from Rajkot Region on the 24th of last month. Mr. A.H.
Joshi and Mr. Asif Sidi, Regional IT Head, Rajkot took the class.
The program aims to educate the participants on the following:
•
To make them aware of the importance of their functions
•
Expectations of the Co
•
Co's systems and Procedures
•
ISO and Compliance requirements
•
Code of Conduct
•
Eliminate margins of error s
•
Zero negligence towards inefficiency, errors and lethargy on the job
•
Importance of issuing TURs (truck unloading reports) and remarks in the same
•
Inculcate positive and healthy attitude towards job responsibility
•
Implement operations discipline and proficiency
•
Establish 100% service accuracy and safe deliveries
The training will encompass ground staff on all India level and will be held in each Region.
Any initiative to be successful requires reciprocative involvement of participants. The Management is confident
that the training will set a new a benchmark in the Co's pursuit of excellent quality. An investment of this nature
begets threefold benefits to the Customer, Company and the Staff on the whole!

FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR'S DESK
Dear Friends,
March, the final month of FY 2014-15 is here. I am aware that
the Team is working under pressure to achieve year end
business goals. It is said that best pilots are made in stormy
weathers. I am positive that the Team will outperform in the
final test. My best wishes to everybody.
As regards business, last month again was average for both VTrans & V-Xpress divisions. We can probably attribute this to the
short February month, sluggish market conditions coupled with
cautionary trends in anticipation of the union budget.
V- Trans is gearing to establish itself as a futuristic service
provider. The Co is aggressively up-scaling on various fronts.
For better business focus, it has created a new Central & East
Region – the tenth in the V-Trans division, headquartered in
Nagpur city. The new regional office was inaugurated on the
rd
23 of last month and is headed by Mr. Sanjay Mukherjee.
Next is up-grading our infrastructure. Last month our Por branch in Baroda region moved to bigger, better
premises while our Gurgaon branch in North Region acquired a new warehouse. We present photos of the new
premises inside. All these initiatives are aimed at building better customer relationship.
Staff training engagement is another focus area. The IBM program forges ahead in Vapi and Nagpur Regions.
Another training program on “Basics of Quality Product and Services” for ground level staff has been rolled out.
Necessity is the mother of invention, it is said. When headache bothers, there are two options to seek relief –
either pop an aspirin and wait for it to take effect, or choose instant relief without medication This month's
Health Corner features interesting self healing cures. The story section too is a wonderful tale of a little girl
whose faith saves her little brother's life.

PERSONALITY OF THE MONTH: MR. NIPUN M. GALA, DY. RM, MUMBAI REGION
Mr. Nipun Gala's association with V-Trans began when
during his childhood he would come to office during
Diwali pujan. At that time, Shri Meghji Gala, his father &
one of the founding Directors was actively involved in the
business. Gradually, the frequency of visits increased
during school vacations in the 1980's era. And like elder
brother Ramnikbhai, he too joined the Co full-fledged in
Andheri branch in 1985 after completing SY B. Com.
from Mithibai College. In 1998, he was called to the
registered office at Chinchbunder and has since
remained stationed there.
He recalls, “When I joined the business, I remember Papa
telling me, 'Learn everything and avoid saying No to any
kind of work, however big or small'. I still follow his advice
and maintain my calm even when faced with challenging
situations”.
Close knit happy family. (L-R): Daughters Jill
& Kanchi, papa Meghjibhai, Nipunbhai &
wife Heenaben
Starting from scratch – those days there was no formal induction training – he learnt the intricacies of the
business on his own, is an excellent negotiator and maintains excellent goodwill with customers and colleagues
alike.
In today's modern age Nipunbhai takes pride in saying that he lives with his father, Meghjibhai, who at 93 still
leads an active life. His family consists of wife Heena, a devoted homemaker and two daughters Jill, currently in
her last year of electronics engineering, and younger daughter Kanchi in higher secondary, pursuing Arts.

HEALTH CORNER: SELF HEALING TECHNIQUES FOR AILMENTS
Right breathing cures headache:
The nose has two nostrils – left and right. We use both to inhale and exhale.
Actually they are different. The right side represents the sun while the left
represents moon. When headache bothers you, close the right nostril and breathe
through the left. The pain will leave shortly. Practicing this continuously for a
month relieves chronic headache.
If you are feeling tired, just reverse the process and you will feel refreshed in
minutes. It is believed that the right side (which represents sun) gets heated fast
while the left remains cool as it represents moon. Women breathe through their
left nostril, hence they stay cool while men breathe through their right, therefore
get worked up easily.
Notice which nostril breathes faster when you wake up? If left, you will feel tired.
So breathe through the right to feel refreshed in a matter of few minutes.
Acidity:
Acidity is a common ailment encountered by people. A very simple remedy is to take 8 – 10 grains of raw,
uncooked rice and swallow it with a glass of water on empty stomach half hour before morning breakfast.
Doing this continually for 21 days will provide relief from acidity. For total eradication, continue the treatment
30 more days.
Cholesterol:
Cholesterol is usually accompanied by hypertension and heart problems. It is also commonly seen in those
suffering from blood pressure and diabetes. Take raw betel nut or supari (not flavored). Slice or make small
pieces of supari, chew it for about 30 to 40 minute and spit it out. When chewing the supari, the saliva absorbs
its juice into the body which acts like a blood thinner to make it flow freely, thus reducing blood pressure.
Blood pressure:
A pinch of methi or fenugreek seeds (about 8-10) should be swallowed with a glass of water on empty stomach
before breakfast every morning helps maintain normal blood pressure. Fenugreek is considered effective for
regulating blood sugar as well good for diabetics.
Diabetes:
There are two remedies for diabetes:
1.
Black Tea: In diabetes, the kidney is the worst affected organ due to high medication. Black tea simply
boiled in water without milk, sugar or lemon is good for kidneys and a cup every morning is recommended.
2. Okra, bhindi is also considered a good remedy for diabetics. Slit the bhindi in two halves vertically and soak
in water overnight. Next morning, strain the water and give it to the diabetic person to drink on empty
stomach before eating breakfast. The water will be observed to have become sticky which is considered to
be effective in the treatment.

STORY CORNER: COST OF A MIRACLE!
Eight year old Ankita was not getting sleep that night. As she lay awake in the dark, she heard her Mom and
Dad speak in hushed tones. They were talking about her little brother, Ankush who was very sick and needed a
costly surgery to save his life. They had spent all their earnings on his treatment. There was no one who would
loan them money either. Daddy was telling Mom in desperation, “Only a miracle can save our Ankush.”
Mommy was sobbing and crying inconsolably.
Next day, Ankita removed her secret saving jar, poured the change on the floor and counted it not once but
three times over. She carefully placed the change back in the jar, slipped on the cap tightly and quietly left home
along with it. She went to the pharmacy store and waited patiently for the owner's attention but he was too busy.
Twice she tried to draw his attention towards her but nothing happened. Finally, she took out a coin from her jar
and banged it on the counter. That did it! “And what do you want?' the owner asked a bit irritated, “Can't you see
I'm busy?”
“Well I want to buy miracle for my small brother,” Ankita replied confidently, “He is really sick”. “I beg your
pardon?” asked the owner. “His name is Ankush, and he has something really bad growing in his head and I
heard my Daddy saying that only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?” “We don't sell
miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you'” said the owner softening a bit. “Listen, I have the money
to pay for it, and if it is not enough, I will get more. Just tell me how much it costs''.
The owner's brother, happened to hear the conversation. He stooped down and asked Ankita, “What kind of
miracle does your brother need?” “I don't know,” Ankita replied with her eyes welling up, “I just know that he's
really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But Daddy can't pay for it, so I want to use my money.” “And
how much do you have?” asked the man.“Ten rupees and sixty paise”, Ankita replied barely audibly. “And it's all
I have, but I can get some more if needed.”
“Well what a coincidence!” smiled the man. Ten rupees and sixty paise is the exact price of the miracle your
brother needs!” He took her money and clasping her small hands, he said, “Take me to where you live, I want to
see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”
The person was a doctor specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed without charge and it
wasn't long until Ankush was doing well. Ankita's Mom & Dad were happily talking of the chain of events. Her
mother whispered, “That surgery was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?”
Ankita smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost…. Ten rupees and sixty paise. Plus the faith of a little
child.
A miracle is not the suspension of natural law, but the operation of a higher law!

FUNNY BONES!!!!
A young lad on the eve of his wedding asks his mother, “Mom, why does the bride always wear a white
wedding dress?” His mother looks at him and replies, “Son, it means your bride is pure.”
The son thanks his mother, and then goes to his father for his opinion, “Dad, why are wedding dresses
white?' The father looks at his son in surprise and says, “Son, all household appliances come in white.”
Reaching the end of the interview, the Human Resource Manager asked the young Engineer, a fresher just
out of IIT, this final question, “And how much salary are you looking for?” The Engineer replied, “In the
neighborhood of say Rs. 10 lacs per annum, depending on the benefits package.”
To this the interviewer said, “Well, in that case what would you say to a package of 4
weeks' of vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching
retirement fund to 50% of salary and a high-end company car leased every two
years?” The candidate sat up straight and exclaimed, “Wow! are you joking?” And
