SUMMER DAYCAMPS 2015
Summer is upon us at last! This year we are offering 3 sessions of Summer Day Camp. The sessions will run July 6th to July 17th,
July 20th to July 31st and August 3rd to August 14th. The Day Camps are designed to meet the imagination and activity needs of
children between the ages of 4-10 years.
Our 2 week sessions include the option of swimming lessons. Children may also participate in day camp one week at a time but
these sessions do not include swimming lessons.
→ $165.00 for 2 weeks
(Swim lessons)
→ $130.00 for 2 weeks
(No swim lessons)
→ $65.00/week
(No swim lessons)
Day Camp runs from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm daily. Those signed up for swimming lessons will be brought and picked up each morning
with the option of returning them to the pool at 3:00 pm for the afternoon swim (however they would not be a day camp
participant at this time) if they are over 6 years of age at the request of the parent/guardian.
Snacks & Freezies will be provided. Please pack a lunch for your child. Day Camp is being held at the Civic Centre Arena & at
Centennial Park. The majority of activities will take place outdoors. We will provide sunscreen and insect repellent.
REGISTRATION IS ONGOING. Register at the Recreation Department, Town Hall or Aquatic Centre. If you have already registered
for swim lessons but would also like to participate in a Day Camp, just let us know and we will have you fill out the Day Camp
forms. **Only the difference between what you have paid and the cost of the Day Camp is due prior to the first day of camp.

Summer begins with the exploration of incredible ideas that challenge and stimulate creativity, fair play,
teamwork and cooperation….Design a better “Tug of War” game, Invent new carnival booth games, Design a
new board game, Create a dynamic “mobile”, and more!!
Set 2: “SAFARI, PENGUINS & POLAR BEARS” July 20th to July 31st
Come play with the animals! Learn about the Safari and the incredible bond between penguins and polar bears!
...An outing to the Prentice Safari Exhibit, creative crafts and games that only penguins and polar bears would
play!
Set 3: “CELEBRATION OF NATIONS” August 3rd to August 14th
The last month of summer has arrived and its time to look to other Nations and how we are the same, how we are
different…games, snacks, arts and crafts from nations around the world!

is welcome to come and enjoy some great baseball and
softball at the ball diamonds in Assiniboia. Our
season runs May 10th to June 30th. Baseball is played on
Mondays & Wednesdays and Softball is played on
Tuesday and Thursdays.

That’s right, after a two year hiatus and lots of input from you, the public, the Southern Cruisers have decided to
resurrect our July 1st main event. If you're in the mood for some carnage, look no further. Featuring non-stop
bone crushing, metal twisting demolition derby action with classes for full size cars and the new front wheel
drive class. Add to that, the always popular high flying, axle snapping antics of the tuff trucks and this event is
always a crowd pleaser! There will be a concession on site and a beer gardens all afternoon plus much, much

ASSINIBOIA REGIONAL CAMPGROUND__________________9
Season :
The Regional Campground season is from May 11th through to Thanksgiving.
 The Assiniboia Regional Campground is a part of the Assiniboia Regional Park.
 The campground has 15 electric sites and 2 non-electric sites.
 Campsites are grassy and well treed to allow for privacy. Site sizes range from tent to 35’ pull through
trailer.
 Water hook-up at all electrical sites
 Sanitation dumping station next to the Arena.
 Picnic tables and pole barbecues in all the campsites.
 Modern showers and washrooms located at the adjacent Assiniboia Aquatic Centre.
 Reservations are not accepted at the campground. It is first come, first serve due to the fact that there
are only 17 sites. No exceptions.
 Overflow camping is available at our Fairgrounds when the campground is full.
** July 1st is an exception due to the Demolition Derby at the Fairgrounds. Dates surrounding and including
Canada Day- Overflow will be at the Civic Centre Arena- Parking Lot (next to the campground)
Registration:
 Site permits must be purchased at the Aquatic Centre during operational hours (Monday to
Saturday, 9 am to 9 pm; Sunday, 1 pm to 9 pm.) If the pool is closed, please take an envelope from the
mailbox, fill it out, cut off the bottom part of the form, place your fees and the top part of your form in the
envelope and drop it through the mail slot. Place the bottom part of your form on your campsite post.
Once staff have arrived, they will issue you a formal camping permit. The white part is placed on your
site post and the yellow part hangs on your mirror in your car.
 A Regional Park Season Pass may be purchased at the Aquatic Centre or at Town Hall.
Amenities in the Community
 Food Service, Cellular Service, Concession/Gasoline, Outdoor Pool, Aquatic Programs, Picnic Area,
Playground, Showers, Washrooms, Laundry Service, Potable Water, Sewer Dump, Propane,
Fishing, Tennis/ Badminton/ Basketball/ Volleyball/ Ball Diamonds, Horse Shoe Pits,
Museum/Historical Site, Pets Permitted.
Boating and Fishing
 Willows Dam which is located 8 km east on Highway #13 offers the angler either Walleye or an
abundance of Perch.
 A boat launch is available for those who wish to venture out a little farther
(Gas motors are not permitted).

The Heart and Stroke Foundation Big Bike Fundraiser is coming to
Assiniboia in May! The top 29 fund raisers will get to ride on the bike.
Everyone will be participating and all your pledges will go to helping The
Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan. Pledge sheets are
available at Town Hall, the Recreation Department, Union Hospital and on
our website at www.assiniboia.net. This event is being sponsored by the
Town of Assiniboia, In Motion and Safe Communities.

PRENTICE SAFARI EXHIBIT
The Prentice Safari Exhibit is incredibly unique and a wonderful
opportunity to peer into another world! Come and enjoy the “safari”
atmosphere, read all about the displays and about the wonderful world
travels of Mr. Prentice. The exhibit is located inside our Museum @
506-3rd Avenue West.
ASSINIBOIA VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE
The Assiniboia Visitor Information Centre is located within our Museum. If you
have any questions about what we have available in Assiniboia or are planning a
trip and need information, drop on by and our Visitor Services Officers will be
glad to help!

ASSINIBOIA REGIONAL GOLF COURSE________________ 11
The Assiniboia Regional Golf Club is located in the Assiniboia Regional Park less than five minutes
south of the Town of Assiniboia. It is a registered member with Golf Saskatchewan
This prairie setting course opened in 1986 and has wide undulating fairways lined with clusters of trees.
The course is operated jointly through the Assiniboia Regional Park Authority and the Town of
Assiniboia.
The course features large bent grass greens. Water comes into play on 5 of the holes.
The Club House is fully licensed with food service, pro shop, equipment rentals and power carts.
