Mennonite Coaches List
This list is a directory of Mennonites who are qualified and available to offer coaching. We define coaching as
partnering with leaders and the Holy Spirit in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to
maximize their personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain and complex
environment. Coaches honor the leader as the expert in his or her life, and work and believe every leader is creative,
resourceful and whole.
Standing on this foundation, the coach's responsibility is to:
 Discover, clarify, and align with what the leader wants to achieve
 Encourage self-discovery
 Elicit leader-generated solutions and strategies
 Hold the leader responsible and accountable to their own goals
 Honor the Spirit’s guidance
This process helps leaders dramatically improve their outlook on work and life, while improving their leadership
skills and unlocking their potential (adapted from the International Coaching Federation definition).
We believe that coaching is an empowering process that can inspire our leaders to greater effectiveness for the

Compiled by Mennonite Church USA’s Leadership Development team, this directory includes names of persons
who have provided information regarding coach training/certification and have a letter of reference from their
congregation or area conference indicating that they are active and in good standing with their congregation. These
coaches have also committed themselves to the ethical standards of the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
Although Mennonite Church USA does not officially endorse these persons, we trust the certifications they have
earned and the congregations and area conferences which have submitted these names.
Individuals seeking coaching may write to coaches on the list directly for further information. Location is not critical
to a coaching relationship, as most coaching is conducted through telephone or Skype. Ordinarily those seeking
coaching will request an initial exploratory conversation with the coach to discuss their particular coaching goals and
to learn how the coach functions. Be sure to discuss the coach’s rates and other factors, as these may vary.
In addition to individual coaching some coaches may be willing to coach teams of leaders or do group coaching in
their area of expertise. You are encouraged to contact these persons for further conversation.
