The Master’s Message
Oh my! Hasn’t it been hot this
month! If this heat continues, we
will have to institute summer attire
early.
Thanks, everyone who came and
supported us at our March Stated
Meeting. I hope everyone had a
wonderful time learning about life
on Alcatraz Island, presented by
brother Dick Fisher. I would also
like to welcome brother Spears
home from a US Naval deployment.
The lodge appreciates the work that
you are doing to defend the freedom
we all enjoy.
We have a busy month ahead of us
with a lot of degrees scheduled and
events planned. We are having the
annual shooting event. We also
have the Past Masters night. All
master masons in good standing are
welcome to attend and see the Past
Masters perform a “PERFECT”
third degree.

I am inviting all the brethren to join
us and witness the quality of work
your officers are doing. Let’s not
overlook them or take them for
granted. These young men not only
want but need your support. They
need to know that their work matters
and is appreciated. So take a moment and look at the monthly calendar. You will see ample opportunities to observe your Lodge Officers
at work. As is said at the end of almost every meeting, “sideliners are
greatly appreciated”. See you in
lodge!

Our infirmed brethren don’t care what we know if they don’t know we care.
Dear Members and Ladies of San Diego Lodge 35,
For many years, Bethel 40 has had a major fund raising activity working at the Del Mar Fair. We have been
offered this opportunity again this year. We have one date prior to the fair opening and several during the fair.
The Fair pays us $7.00 per person per hour and provides a complementary fair pass. This is a tremendous
fundraiser for Bethel 40, one which does not require anyone to sell anything. This does require some commitment from adults over the age of 21 to work shifts at the fairground.
The fair notified us today of our shift assignments for this year. The times that I need parents (or anyone in the
family, or friends, or someone you might just like to spend the day with that is over 21 years of age) is as follows:
Sunday, May 31st from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (home brew judging)
Friday, June 19th, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Int’l. Beer Festival)
Friday, June 20th, from 3:30 pm to 9:00pm (Int’l Beer Festival)
Saturday, June 20th, from 10:00 am to 8:00pm (Int’l Beer Festival)
Sunday, June 21st from 11:00 to 5:00 p.m. (Int’l Beer Festival)
The work is not hard; it is very easy, and can really be fun. No experience is needed and no drinking is allowed. I am sending out these times and asking for help now to see if we can fill these slots. Please, please,
please look over your calendars, and let me know as soon as possible if you can work any or all of these shifts.
If we can fill the slots with at least five adults each time slot, we have the potential of earning at least $1500
which would really keep the Bethel afloat.
Your help is appreciated and needed. I urge you to support the Bethel. If you need any information about the
project, please give me a call at 619-280-1156. Remember you can get a group of your friends (they don’t
have to be masons, just adults) and work together having a great time. Just ask the volunteers from last year –
they had fun!
Many Thanks!
Susie Goodloe
