Turning the Page …
After an ambitious attempt to redefine the business model for a daily newspaper, the Orange
County Register recently changed its leadership and is entering a new phase in its 110-year
history. Rich Mirman was named publisher of the Register and The Press-Enterprise in the
Inland Empire late last year and recently expanded his responsibilities as CEO and President of
the newspapers’ parent company, Freedom Communications. In the wake of a bold expansion
led by former Freedom CEO and Register publisher Aaron Kushner, Mirman is now focused on
serving Freedom’s core markets in Orange County and Inland Empire, while preserving the
quality of the area’s largest news-gathering operation. Joining the OC Forum as our next
speaker, Rich Mirman will share why he joined the Register, his plans to enhance communitylevel and Spanish-language coverage through print and digital platforms, and the vision for
guiding Freedom Communications into the future.
