Monthly Decorating Tip – Valentine’s Day! Red-and-Pink Valentine's Mantel Red pillar candles, fresh roses, and jars of valentine candy complement a store-bought heart wreath on this simple and colorful Valentine's Day mantel. To craft the heart garland, you take and twist pink and red tissue paper, and glue it onto cardstock hearts. A family photo adds a nice personal touch. Decorating for valentine’s day does not need to cost much – just simply take some decorative jars and fill with a colorful valentines treat to create these jars that look great on a mantle, table, or just about anywhere you want to place them! (Panera Bread) Black Bean Soup Recipe of the Month: Ingredients: Winter is the best time for a warm bowl of soup! Do you like Panera Bread’s Black Bean Soup? Check out this knock-off soup that tastes just like it! This recipe gets 4.5 out of 5.0 Stars! Serving size: 4-6 Prep time: 10 Min. Cook time: 20 Min. Total Time: 30 Min. 1 onion, finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, minced 2 celery ribs, finely chopped 1/4 large red bell pepper, finely chopped 2 small chicken bouillon cubes 1 -1 1/2 cup boiling water 2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, not drained 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cumin 1/2 lemon, juice of 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch Directions: Another really easy recipe, makes a great starter or make it a meal with a crusty loaf of fresh bread, or some Nachos, and a salad! 1. In a pot, combine the first six ingredients; simmer for 10 minutes. 2. Add half a can of beans, salt and cumin; cook for 5 minutes. 3. Puree soup (Use an immersion blender which makes it easy to do it right in the pot – but a hand mixer, or blender would work too). 4. Add the rest of the beans to the soup. 5. Combine the cornstarch with 1 1/2 tablespoons of water. 6. Add the lemon and the cornstarch to the soup; cook until thickened.
