THE CROWN AGAIN IN SYDNEY AND MELBOURNE
- MRN HAS THE LARGEST 40+ AUDIENCE AND DOUBLE THE TIME SPENT LISTENING OF ANY NETWORK - MACQUARIE IS THE HOME OF FOOTBALL -
TUESDAY JUNE 2ND, 2015
Macquarie Radio Network’s (MRN) powerhouse News Talk stations 2GB in Sydney and 3AW in Melbourne have
topped the radio ratings again as Number One stations in both markets, according to today’s Gfk Survey 3 results.
MRN’s network of News, Talk, Music and Sport stations have a national reach of more than 2.3 million Australians All
People 10+ and a dominant share of more than 1.9 million of the influential All People 40+ age group. The time that
MRN’s audience spends listening to its stations is double that of the nearest commercial competitor.
Macquarie is the home of football this season, with the top rating Continuous Call Team of Ray Hadley, Darryl “Big
Marn” Brohman, Mark Levy and Mark “Piggy” Riddell bringing all the NRL action to 2GB Sydney and 4BC Brisbane
listeners, while 3AW in Melbourne and 6PR in Perth have the nation’s best AFL commentary teams including Tim
Lane, Tony Leonard, Cameron Ling, Matthew Richardson, Karl Langdon, Peter Bell and Drew Morphett in what is
already a sizzling season of footy.
2GB has once again continued its unbroken decade-long reign as Sydney’s most listened to station, with an audience
share of 11.9%. As Melbourne’s most listened to station for 9 years, 3AW continues to dominate with a 13.7% share
in the latest survey.
2GB and 3AW enjoyed strong performances in the competitive Breakfast and Morning slots. The Alan Jones Breakfast
Show commands a 14% share, while 3AW Breakfast team Ross & John’s share was 20.1%, their 107th survey win in
Melbourne.
2GB’s Ray Hadley still holds the Number One position in Mornings in Sydney, with an unequivocal win. Hadley’s
audience is at 14.4%.
Audiences have embraced the new presenter lineup at Brisbane News Talk station 4BC, with share growth of 0.4%
to 5.0%. Breakfast’s Alan Jones and Mornings’ Ray Hadley have seen their listener base grow to 6.4% and 5.8%
respectively, while Clare Blake, Ben Davis and Ross Greenwood also contributed to gains across the station.

still leads time spent listening at more than 12 hours per week.
