(Phone calls only) Willowdale Ontario Early Years Centre Program Descriptions PRE-REGISTERED PROGRAMS: Baby Mother Goose (7 - 12 mos.): This program provides a group experience for parents & their babies. It focuses on the pleasure & power of using rhymes, songs & homemade toys in a relaxing atmosphere. Baby’s Playland (13 – 18 mos.): Come enjoy a variety of play activities for you & your baby. Babies will develop different areas of development while participating in crafts, cognitive games, music, singing & more. Fun with Math (31mos.+): Enjoy learning important early math concepts with your child! Let’s have fun with numbers and math through interesting games and activities. Fun with Literacy (31mos. +): Explore fun early literacy experiences that are the important building blocks in preparing children to read & write. Fun with Numbers (25 - 30 mos.): Enjoy learning important early math concepts with your child! Let’s have fun with numbers and math through interesting games and activities. Infant Massage (0 - 6 mos.): Experience the impact of massage & how it can enhance your infant’s sleep, reduce symptoms of colic & improve parent-child bonding. Let’s Get Started: A program for parents and their children aged 6 yrs and under with special needs who are waiting for services and would like to receive additional support. Parents/children will receive information and support from a variety of professionals: speech & language, child development, early intervention, nutrition etc. (Please ask staff for more details). Siblings are welcome. Messy Bambinos (7 - 12 mos.): Messy Babies (13 - 24 mos.) Come sing songs & try a variety of sensory play activities with your child. Enjoy getting messy with your child while talking with other parents in a supportive environment. (Please bring “play” clothes and a towel for your child to get messy!). Make the Connection: is a program that helps parents to interact with their babies aged birth to 12 months in ways that promote secure attachment, communication and brain development through the key themes of love, language and learning. Please contact Public Health Nurse Michelle Sutherland @ 416-338-8680 My Baby & Me (0 - 6 mos.): This is an interactive program for parents/caregivers & their babies to sing songs make home-made toys & participate in informative discussions in a supportive environment. Once Upon A Story (25 - 30 mos.): Parents/caregivers & children can share their favorite nursery rhymes, songs & short stories and even learn some new ones! This program also includes finger plays, songs, games, arts & crafts. Rhyme Time (25 - 30 mos.): Explore early literacy experiences through rhyming fun; they are important building blocks in preparing children to read and write. PARENT WORKSHOPS: Parents/caregivers can attend a workshop on a variety of topics related to their child/family. ‘Kids Club’ is offered with most workshops. Kids Club (1 – 6 yrs.): Children can enjoy early learning activities while their parents/caregivers attend one of the parent workshops offered (as listed below). Babies 12 months and younger stay with parents in workshop room - babes in arms! Workshop Topics: “Family First Aid & CPR Workshop”: This workshop will focus on the following topics: victim & scene management, scenario practice, family first aid kits, drowning/choking prevention and CPR for infants/children. Participants will receive a certificate with course completion. “Incredible Years Parenting Workshop”: (children aged 2 – 6 yrs.) Parents will learn about play, praise, limit-setting, problem-solving & handling difficult/ different behaviours. Child-minding and snack will be provided. “Toddler Talk”: Strategies for building infant’s language & literacy; learn about Fun, play-based activities that give children a head start in their language and literacy development. “Triple P (parenting) Seminars”: Series of 3 parenting workshops covering the following topics: 1/power of positive parenting (May7) 2/raising confident competent children (May 14) 3/raising resilient children (May 21). We recommend that parents attend all three sessions. There is NO Kids Club (child-minding) offered. For more information – www.triplep.net “Picky Eaters” Parent Workshop & Kids Club: Do you have a picky eater at home? Come and learn interesting ways to help your child to enjoy a balanced meal and learn healthy eating habits. This workshop is facilitated by a Registered Dietitian. DROP-IN PROGRAMS: Family Time (0 - 6 yrs.): Parents/caregivers & children can meet with others to explore a variety of fun & stimulating activities. It is also a time for parents to talk to our Early Childhood Educators to discuss any concerns/questions they may have about their child. Active Fun (0 - 6 yrs.): There will be a variety of physical activities for children of all ages! Come to have fun with balls, hoola hoops, tricycles, bean bag, bowling, tunnel, parachute and more. All activities help promote children’s physical health while having fun with their parents. We may go OUTSIDE when the weather is nice!
