Benefits of AES Water Treatment
Improve Frac Performance and Reduce Costs
• Cleaner water improves the permeability of the pore spaces
• TSS below 5 Microns (<5µ) avoid plugging the pore throat areas in the formation
• Reduce the risk of formation damage during hydraulic fracturing operations
Extend Production Life of a Well
•
•
•
•
Reduced contaminants for improved longer term production (Bacteria, Sulfides, TSS)
Bacteria and Iron control to prevent H2S development downhole
Formation has improved flow due to reduced pressure and pore throat blockage
H2S treatment before completion and during production
Control Water-Related Costs
•

•
Recycled flowback and produced water with balanced chemistry
Reduced costs with control of all water on the project
Reduced water trucking and disposal costs by 50%
Minimize quantities of new sourced water
Capabilities:
Total Water Management on location or at a Central Processing Facility
• Cost savings due to recycling of produced water by eliminating trucking and deep well injection
• Cost savings due to reduction of new water sourcing
• Higher quality than fresh water that is optimized for hydraulic fracturing
AES provides sustainable cost savings for water treatment
• AES HydroFlow for removing bacteria from water before a frac,
which reduces the use of antibacterial chemicals and cost by
nearly 70%
• Mobile Rapid B Lab analysis provides Bacteria counts in real-time
• Verify the bacteria levels before going down hole
• Evaporation of water in pits destined for trucking and disposal,
which reduces volume & costs while evaporating water into
the hydrologic cycle
• Combined flows of source water to a consistent Clean Brine for the frac program
that reduces fresh water supplies and cost.
AES Water Recycling costs less than Use & Disposal while providing consistent high quality water.
AES Differentiators
AES was founded by oil industry veterans that built the company on the need for cost-effective, total water
management in the oilfield. While we offer individual services to move, store and treat water, AES is uniquely
positioned to bundle them into a cost-effective end-to-end water management solution for single locations or full
field deployments. We offer:
•

AES Bundled Services Save Cost and Improve Quality
AES has developed complementary services that support all aspects of water management, and with non-hazardous applications that cost less
than historic methods. We offer bundled services to save cost overall, while our focus is on improving quality of water and the processes that
support the completions success:
•
•
•
•
Bacteria Measurement and Control for all water sources in real-time
Non-Chemical bacteria neutralization with Pit Recirculation using AES HydroFLOW
Water transfer with AES HydroFLOW for on-the-fly bacteria neutralization
Mobile Bacteria Testing of all system components to identify bacteria contribution, which allows time to neutralize and prevent down
hole contamination
• H2S control with non-hazardous chemicals
• Mobile High Volume Water Recycling units with 20,000 BPD
capacity per unit . Clean Brine assures Clean Fracs
• TSS <5 microns
• 99.8% Bacteria Neutralization
• Iron removal with oxidation and filtration to <5
microns
• On-site Rapid diffusion Pit Evaporation Units will reduce
transportation and disposal costs significantly
Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF)
AES applied new technologies to state of the art DAF systems for oilfield water
recycling so that high flow rates (20,000 bbl/day) are achieved

Measure Bacteria at every Stage
of Fluid Storage and Transfer
AES acquired a Rapid-B mobile Flow Cytometer that is recognized
as the leading method for quantifying bacteria; and now operates
the only mobile bacteria testing fleet in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Ability to test water samples within 15 minutes on location
• Identify specific areas of bacteria in a frac operation or production
• Testing in-field for time series bacteria neutralization
• Provide data for measuring biocide dosing
• Testing efficacies of various biocides in near real-time
• Allows KPIs to be measured and managed
Measure Bacteria Counts before Treatment
Then remove bacteria without chemicals
AES HydroFlow Removes Bacteria at 70% less cost
than Chemicals and provides verification on location
• AES introduces the mobile Rapid B bacteria testing lab into the field to
accurately count bacteria in water prior to use for a frac
• AES HydroFLOW treatment provides a chemical-free and just-in-time solution
for eliminating bacteria and algae for all oil & gas water.
• HydroFLOW’s unit induces an electric signal of ±150kHz into any water pipe
on which they are installed (metal or PVC)
• Environmentally safe and cost-effective replacement of
chemical biocides for surface treatment at significantly less
cost than chlorine dioxide
• Operates 24/7 to contiguously treat bacteria in pits, flowback
lines and during water transfer. Verified effectiveness on
location in minutes.
How AES HydroFlow technology kills bacteria and algae
• Bacteria and/or algae that passes through the unit’s ring of ferrites
becomes charged by the HydroFlow signal. This charge forms a
hydration layer of pure water around the cell. Osmosis forces water into
the bacteria and/or algae, creating osmotic pressure, which ruptures
the cell membrane and causes the cell to die.
• In addition to eradication via osmosis, the HydroFlow signal interferes
with the bacteria and/or algae cell membrane, which causes it to
perish.
• As the HydroFlow signal passes through a pipe, it disrupts the bacteria
and/or algae clinging to the rough inner surface, gradually releasing the
biofoul over time. The result over sustained use is the elimination of
buildup within the pipe.

fluid
• Introduces new water into the hydrologic cycle
• Reduction of truck related impacts to locations and communities
• AES personnel on location or set up with the Operator to manage
• Cost effective and reliable water management solution
Evaporation: Economic Benefits
The estimated cost of trucking and
disposing of a barrel of wastewater in our
markets ranges between $2.00 - $3.50 per
barrel vs. the cost of on-site, high volume
evaporation at 35% savings.
For a standard frac job,
wastewater evaporation in lieu of
trucking/disposal provides an
estimated cost savings
between $84k and $360k
