TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-KINGSVILLE PROVOST AND VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) invites nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic affairs. Reporting to President Steven Tallant, the Provost is the Chief Academic Officer of the University and is responsible for developing and maintaining the highest standards related to research, teaching and service. A Doctoral/Research University, the University is classified as both Hispanic Serving Institution (HIS) and a Minority Serving Institution and is one of the fastest growing four-year institutions in the State of Texas. Founded in 1925, TAMUK, a member of the Texas A&M University System, has more than 8,700 students from 42 states and 43 countries. The University is located in historic Kingsville, a friendly, safe city of 26,000 and home of the legendary King Ranch. Corpus Christi and its beaches are 40 miles to the northeast and the border with Mexico is 120 miles to the south. The University seeks a Provost who is a visionary leader that demonstrates the ability to be creative and innovative when developing and reviewing programs in a rapidly changing, competitive environment. The Provost is responsible for academic planning, institutional effectiveness, academic assessments, institutional accountability, and all personnel actions pertaining to faculty. Reporting to the Provost are the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Associate Vice President for Research and Dean of Graduate Studies, the Associate Vice President for Student Success, Associate Vice President for Student Access, Associate Vice President for Technology/Chief Information Officer, Dean, Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Human Sciences, Dean of College of Business Administration, Dean of College of Education and Human Performance, Dean of Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering, Dean of Honors College, Assistant Provost, Director of the James C. Jernigan Library. The position requires interaction with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, The Texas A&M University System, and other chief academic officers throughout the State of Texas. Candidates for the position will have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution and a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated academic administrative experience, preferably at the dean or higher level at a baccalaureate or higher degree granting institution (preferred candidates will have administrative experience at a doctoral level institution); a significant record of teaching, research, and scholarly achievement commensurate with appointment to the rank of full professor; the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the University community; and an ability to work and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment. Desirable candidates will have experience raising funds to support institutional priorities, have the ability to lead teams through institutional strategic planning, possess an understanding of legislative processes, and demonstrate a history of service to the community and willingness to represent the University at local, regional, and national events.
