Popcorn Sellers & Fort Bend County Council Congratulations Fort Bend 4-H County Council for putting on a great popcorn fundraiser this spring! Everyone who participated helped to make it a huge success! Total, Fort Bend 4-H members sold $3,484 and raised $1742 for the program! All funds raised will go towards Fort Bend 4-H events hosted by County Council, including an upcoming dance scheduled to take place after the awards banquet in August. Elections for the 2015—2016 4-H year will be held at the next County Council meeting on Thursday, May 21, 2015. All 4-H members and parents are invited to attend the Awards Banquet planning meeting. Want to have more of a say in what happens in Fort Bend 4-H and Banquet? Parents and 4-H members are invited to the Parent Leader and County Council meetings on Thursday, May 21, 2015. Applications for the 4-H County Council can be found at http:// agrilife.org/ftbend4h/ county-council/ and are due to the Extension Office on May 4, 2015. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00pm on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Extension Office and will take place in the main meeting room. Come with ideas to share about how to honor our 4-Hers this year. Meetings begin at 7:00pm at the Extension Office. Leaders meet in the main building and the County Council meets in the Extension Annex. The Fort Bender Page 2 County 4-H This & That Rabbit Project Seminar Virtual Fishing Contest County Recordbooks All Fort Bend 4-H and FFA members are invited to attend a rabbit project seminar on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Michael Heaton of Heaton Rabbits in Cuero will focus on topics such as selecting a breeder, cages and housing, feeding, showmanship, and more. Get your rod and reel ready for the first Virtual Fishing Contest, May 22—25, 2015. All active Fort Bend 4-H members are invited to participate. County Recordbooks are due into the Extension Office by 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. The seminar will be located at the FBC Fairgrounds in the Club Room and will start at 1:00pm. There is no cost, but registration is re quired at http:// agrilife.org/ftbend4h/rabbit -project-seminar/ . Please contact the Extension Office with questions— 281.342.3034. The contest is catch and release, bass and catfish only. Pictures should be uploaded and tagged on the Fort Bend 4-H Facebook page or Instagram account. Please contact the Extension Office with questions—281.342.3034. Basic Angler Program There will be a Basic Angler Program on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Seabourne Creek Nature Park in Rosenberg, TX. The program is targeted towards all county youth ages 5 to 12 years old. (I spy—the first to see this and e-mail Jennifer wins a gift card). Photography Photography Project Fort Bend 4-H is “shooting” to start a photography club! Interested in joining or leading? Harris County Photography Camp TAE4-HA Photo Contest The Harris C o u n t y Extension Office is hosting a 4-H Sutter Bug Photo Camp on Saturday, May 8, 2015 from 8:00am—4:30pm. The Texas Association of 4-H Agents is hosting a photography contest. Contest entries must be received by the District IV committee chair by May 29, 2015. 4-H membership is not required in order to participate. Select from Beginner, Advanced I, and Advanced II classes. Camp is open to all Fort Bend youth between the ages of 6 and 10. 4-H volunteers are needed! Cost is $8 per person. Texas 4-H Conference Camps The Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood offers a variety of summer camps for Texas youth. Camps run throughout June and July. Wildlife Brigades Camps Wildlife Conservation Camp Registration for the Wildlife Brigades Camps are open now. During these wildlife intensive leadership camps, learn about land ethics, habitat management, and communications. The Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society is hosting a Wildlife Conservation Camp in Junction, TX from July 26—August 1, 2015. Learn about ecology, nature, and conservation. District 9 and State District 9 Leadership Lab Would you like to learn how to lead with purpose and confidence? Texas 4-H State Round-up The 2015 Texas 4-H State Roundup will be held in College Station from June 8 through June 11 on the Texas A&M Campus.
