House Foods America and BCD Tofu House Partner to Create New Product:
BCD SOON TOFU Soup Starter
Garden Gove, CA (August 2013) - House Foods America, the premium tofu purveyor since
1983, is pleased to announce their partnership with BCD Tofu House to introduce BCD SOON TOFU
Soup Starter, available to consumers beginning fall 2013. This brand new product combines House
Foods Tofu and BCD Tofu House’s soon tofu sauce in one convenient package, making it extremely
simple for consumers to make this authentic tofu soup right at home. BCD SOON TOFU Soup Starter
will be available in two levels of spiciness, Medium and Hot; both contain no preservatives or added
MSG.
From a single shop in 1996 to 14 restaurant branches in the US and Korea today, BCD Tofu
House has a passion for sharing the exceptional taste and health benefits of Korea's wonderful
cuisine around the world. In 2009, they began featuring House Foods Tofu in their most popular
menu item, soon tofu soup, a spicy Korean stew that is both hearty and healthy. The key to this
wildly popular dish is a combination of BCD Tofu House’s special sauce and House Foods Tofu,
creating the base broth. From here, diners can pick a spice level and then add seafood or meat of
their choice, or vegetables. Among BCD customers, the most popular soon tofu soups are seafood
and vegetable, however, the “mixed” menu option is also ordered frequently, which combines beef,
shrimp and clam.
“House Foods Tofu product quality surpasses any other tofu manufacturers,” says Edward
Han, Director of Operations & Sales for BCD Tofu House. “We have been working with them for
over 17 years and now with their high quality tofu and our BCD Tofu House secret sauce recipe, we
are excited to combine forces to bring delicious and convenient food to consumers in the comfort of
their own home.”

Han Min Lee, Regional Director of Operations for BCD Tofu House located in NY & NJ, echoes
this excitement as well. “At BCD we pride ourselves on listening to what our customers like and
want more of; this way we can continue to create innovative menu options and now products that
can be customized and enjoyed right at home,” he says.
The broth base for this popular soup takes a few hours for BCD to make from scratch but
with BCD SOON TOFU Soup Starter, everything is ready to go, taking no more than ten minutes from
start to finish. Now, consumers can make their favorite soup in their own kitchen; saving time,
energy and money. Each BCD SOON TOFU Soup Starter kit contains a one ounce packet of BCD
Tofu House special sauce and twelve ounces of House Foods Extra Soft Tofu. This kit has endless
possibilities for at home combinations and personalized recipes.
“We are thrilled to team up with BCD Tofu House to bring this popular Korean dish to home
kitchens across the country,” says Yoko DiFrancia, House Foods’ PR and Marketing Manager. “BCD
SOON TOFU Soup Starter takes healthy at home cooking to another level by making it quick and
easy while delivering a delicious restaurant-style dish that the whole family will love.”
House Foods America’s entire line of tofu includes their Premium Tofu, Organic Tofu, Bulk
