NURSING HOME ALLENBROOK ALLENBROOK Allenbrook Nursing home was extended over a period of years until 2001, into the home that you see today. We now have thirty-three bedrooms fully equipped for thirty-six residents. It is fully centrally heated, double glazed and all bedrooms have their own ensuite facilities. We have recently re decorated and have beautiful new lounge areas, bedrooms and bathrooms, designed especially to suit our resident’s requirements. A beautiful conservatory, patio seating area and a secluded gazebo terrace are available all year round for residents. There are many activities adapted and designed for our residents to look forward to and enjoy. Our varied activities program and social calendar incorporates all national and local celebrations. Where ever possible we try not to overlook any one occasion that we feel may be of an interest in some way to any of our residents. We provide one to one person centred activity sessions with art classes, pottery, cookery, sewing, and drawing. Here at Allenbrook Nursing Home we are embracing new technology and residents can have access to laptops and I pads, which can be used to send e-mails and messages to loved ones living further away or abroad. Music and movement, relaxation sessions all feature on our weekly and monthly programme. Sensory therapies such as aromatherapy, hand massages and soft touch and fragrances sessions are also offered to our residents. Our in-house Activities Co-ordinator keeps in contact with resident's family and friends who are invited to attend any of the activities and events that are held at Allenbrook Nursing Home. These events include all of the seasonal celebrations, our many birthdays, commemorative occasions, professional entertainers, charity events, choirs, crafts, film days. At Allenbrook we like to think we are able to provide a whole host of wonderful social activities and programmes that help our residents to maintain their well being. Our Care Allenbrook Nursing Home provides twenty- four hour nursing care, under a qualified and experienced manager, with a team of qualified nurses, care assistants and ancillary staff to support them. We have our own local group of GPs but residents may continue to use their own GP if they wish to do so. Our caring and thoughtful staff contributes actively to promote individuality amongst our residents, to help them to achieve and maintain the maximum level of independence allowed by resident’s physical and mental health. Nursing care is for people who need a qualified nursing care team available to them 24 hours a day. This might include people who need peg feeding, people who may have suffered a stroke and people with long term conditions. Our approach to nursing care is based on the use of personalised care plans which are drawn up in collaboration with individuals we support and their families. At the Shrubbery Nursing Home we are committed to providing high quality care that is safe, compassionate, and responsive to the individual’s needs. NURSING HOME Nursing Care ALLENBROOK A care plan is formulated for each resident on an individual basis; appropriate for his or her needs, this is agreed with the resident and other health care professionals. Appointments may be made with the dentist, optician, chiropodist and any physiotherapy required. We also have a regular weekly visit from our hairdresser who looks after both our ladies and gentlemen’s hairdressing and grooming requirements. Respite Care Caring for a loved one can be rewarding, but sometimes a short break and having some time off is necessary for both of you. This gives carers the time to recharge their batteries in the knowledge that their loved ones are receiving 24-hour care. Allenbrook Nursing Home can provide round the clock care in a safe, kind and homely environment, whether it’s just for a few days or a few weeks. You can consider respite care if you fall ill and need additional support or if you are planning a holiday and require someone to look after your loved one while you are away. Respite care also gives you the chance to ‘get to know’ a care home, the way it works, its staff and the other residents. This could be a real benefit for the future, should your care needs change and a more permanent move to a care home becomes necessary. Meals and menus Here at Allenbrook, we pride ourselves in providing fresh, wholesome, well balanced and nutritious home-cooked food and encourage our resident's family and friends to dine with us and attend special events throughout the year including Birthdays, Easter and Christmas parties as this has proven to have a positive effect on our residents.
