Ribbons will be awarded to the top four alpacas in each class and to Class Champions
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.
Entries are subject to General Rules and Regulations of Northlands Farm & Ranch and AL.P.A.C.A Canada Show Rules,
with the exception that alpacas registered in any recognized registry may be entered. Please refer to these rules and
read them carefully.
2.
An 8’ X 8’ pen will be provided at $40.00 per stall. Each pen may contain:
a) a maximum of two (2) yearling and older animals or
b) a maximum of three (3) junior animals.
3.
An 8’ X 8’ Farm display ($50 farm display fee) entitles exhibitors to identify and advertise their farm.
4.
Only animals entered in the show will be allowed on the site.
5.
No tables outside of animal stalls.
6.
All exhibitors will be receiving one exhibitor parking pass for the event, additional parking passes can be purchased
at a cost.
7.
Loading and unloading will take place on the North end of Hall B
8.
The original certificate of registration or a copy must be presented to the show committee at the time of the color
inspection.
a) “pending” registrations are not permitted.
b) Percentage purebred alpacas with CLAA certificates are eligible. These entries must be identified as BP,
c) Alpacas registered with CLAA, ARI or other recognized registries will be eligible

All alpacas must be in good health, be free of communicable diseases, and be current in their inoculations and
deworming. Any alpaca exhibiting symptoms of infectious disease will be refused entry to the show.
10.
Exhibitor signature must be present on entry forms, and entry fees must accompany entries, otherwise they will not
be accepted.
11.
Exhibitors are responsible for being ringside 10 minutes before the scheduled time of their classes.
12.
Handler dress code shall be white shirt or blouse and black pants. No ranch, farm, personal or organizational name
or logo shall be displayed on exhibitor or alpaca while in the show ring.
13.
The show committee may reclassify exhibits entered into incorrect classes due to age or color.
14.
With the exception of sex divisions, classes may be combined at the discretion of the show committee in order to
maintain a minimum class size of four entries.
AGE CLASSIFICATIONS FOR ALPACA HALTER CLASSES - HUACAYA & SURI
The following shall be the age classification of alpaca halter classes.
Junior Male and Female
Yearling Male and Female
Two Year Old Male and Female
Mature Male and Female
6 months to under 12 months
12 months to under 24 months
24 months to under 36 months
36 months and over.
COLOUR CLASSIFICATION
A current CLAA Colour Chart shall be used for colour differentiation. The following shall be the criteria for colour
classification of alpacas.
1. Solid Colour
An alpaca is to be shown in the appropriate colour class, when it is predominantly the colour stated for the name of the
class. The alpaca will be disadvantaged, at the judge’s discretion, if it has any other coloured fibers present.
White – only white
Light – beige and light fawn
Fawn – medium and dark fawn
Brown – light, medium, and dark brown
Black – black and bay black
Grey – silver grey, rose grey
Multi
2. Multi Colour.
An alpaca is to be shown in the multi color class if it has unusual or striking distribution of two or more colours
anywhere on the animal below the head and above the knees. The second color must be outside of the colour grouping
(eg. A dark fawn spot on a medium fawn will still be shown in fawn) and larger than 3 cm to be considered a multi.
3. Grey Colour Designation
A predominantly grey alpaca is to be shown in a grey class, whether or not it has any other coloured spots present.
Grey alpacas may or may not exhibit a tuxedo front colour pattern. An alpaca that has minimal, not easily recognizable
white fibres interspersed in it prime blanket fleece is not considered a grey and goes into the appropriate solid class.
Variations will be assessed at the judge’s discretion.
The colour classification shall be determined and agreed upon by the Chief Steward. All colour classification rulings
shall be final and binding at the discretion of the judge.
FLEECE LENGTH REQUIRMENTS
Huacayas - Minimum 50 mm (2”) and maximum 150 mm (6”).
No shaping or clipping other than top knots and tails.

HALTER CLASS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Championships may be awarded in any designated colour category providing there are no less than 10 entries in that category
and the exhibits have moved through their age grouping competition successfully. If there are not enough entries to award a
championship, the first place winner will go on to compete for Supreme Championship Male or Female. Another option for
show management is to combine sexes to award color championships. Both sexes would compete for Grand and Reserve
Champion and only the winner would go on to the appropriate male or female supreme championship.
Supreme Championships may be awarded where there are a minimum of 30 entries of one sex of Huacaya type competing in
the show i.e. for a supreme Huacaya male champion there should be a minimum of 30 Huacaya males competing in the show
and likewise for a supreme female Huacaya Champion.
Supreme Championships may be awarded where there are a minimum of 20 entries of Suri type competing in the show.

SIRE’S PROGENY / GET OF SIRE
a. Entry shall consist of three progeny by the same sire.
b. Entry shall be made in the name of the sire.
c. Sire owner’s permission shall be required for entry in this class.
d. There shall be only one group entered per sire.
e. All progeny must have been shown in their appropriate halter class.
f. Offspring must be from a minimum of 2 dams.
g. The sire is not shown with this group entry.
201.
DAM’S PROGENY CLASS / PRODUCE OF DAM
a. Entry shall consist of two progeny from the same dam.
b. Dam owner’s permission shall be required for entry in this class
c. There shall be only one group entered per dam.
d. All progeny must have been shown in their appropriate halter class.
e. The offspring must be from 2 different sires.
f. The dam is not shown with this group entry.
