Message from Junior
Director:
Welcome to April Newsletter!
MiniRoos competition finally kicked off on
Sunday 19/4 – something that many of our
younger families had been waiting for –
and WHAT AN AWESOME START!
Steve McGregor (our game coordinator
and member of the Junior Committee) and
I felt so proud and excited while standing
on our junior ground at West Lakes Shore,
early Sunday morning, watching our
junior pitch full of cheerful players and
smiling parents.
Parents from other clubs were also
impressed by our well-prepared and
structured match approach – WELL
DONE to our coaching teams for their
efforts for portraying our club professional
on Sunday.
Secondly, as many of you have noticed,
AOFC Juniors have moved our canteen
facilities into the shed. I want to
congratulate Mark Menadue (coach for the
U9 team) and his team of parents from
different teams, for their endless
commitment and efforts to make this
happen within such short period of time –
WELL DONE!
April 2015
Finally, I’m proud to announce that our
senior players will be visiting WLSS oval
every last Wednesday of the month from
6:30pm to 7:30pm, starting Wednesday
29/4 until the end of the season. They will
be helping out the junior coaching teams
and bond with our players. This initiative
was established last year, with great fun
for our junior players.
For now, I wish all our junior teams the
very best and look forward to having an
enjoyable and successful season – Go
Olympic!

of our players and club.

to members of the Executive Board. Some
of them are also mums to senior players in
the first team. The Committee organises

club.
On Saturday 30/5, the Committee has
organized a Ladies’ Night.

1:30pm to 4:30pm at WLSS oval.
It is a family friendly event that was
initiated last season where our players
compete
within
certain
Olympic
disciplines. It is a lot of fun for the
children, giving parents and club officials
lots of opportunities to socialise.
A flyer with more details will go out to all
members soon.
Money raised from this event will go to better
lighting at our junior grounds at West Lakes
Shore.

Rebel Sport:
Last year, AOFC Juniors registered
themselves with Rebel Sport’s loyalty
program. This means that if AOFC
members go to Rebel Sport and make a
purchase, 5% of the purchase will be
credited back to AOFC to spend in store at
Rebel Sport (The 5% credit comes back as
the cumulative total of $2,000 spent in
store).
Last year, we received $293, and so far we
have received $224 this season. We are
very thankful for all the support we have
received and have spent the money on
purchasing new soccer balls and gear for
our players.
So, please ask the store to link to AOFC
Junior’s account no: 070 000 1816, and
support our club every time you shop at
Rebel Sport.
Junior Committee’s
Corner:
From this month and onwards, our
monthly newsletter will also include
certain themes that the Junior Committee
wish to create some awareness about
and/or
address
an
important
theme/challenge that clubs face every
season.
To continue creating a proper club
environment during match days for our
players, we would like touch upon the
theme ‘What is the procedure to address
inappropriate sporting behaviour at our club’?
The theme has high priority at our club, as
we wish for our players and members to
be allowed to enjoy the wonderful sport
that connects us all together. At the same
time, we expect and ask that all our
members demonstrate a behavior that
only supports this club environment
during match days.
The following behaviour outlined below is
not tolerated in our club:
a) Offensive, abusive or insulting
language;
Junior Club: Edwin Street, West Lakes Shore
April 2015
b) Discrimination and harassing
behaviour;
c) Violent conduct of any nature.
1. If a match official is experiencing
above-mentioned behaviour from players
and/or officials during a match, they are to
implement the required sanctions as
outlined in the Laws of the Games.
2. If a match official is experiencing
above-mentioned behaviour from any
other person where on field sanctions
cannot be applied during a match, in the
first instance, it must be brought to the
attention of a club official and/or ground
steward who is required to address the
behaviour with the offending person.
3. If the behaviour continues, the match
official will provide the club official and/or
ground
stewards
with
a
further
opportunity to address the inappropriate
behaviour.
4. If the match official has exhausted both
of these avenues, and no resolution has
been
achieved,
and
inappropriate
behaviour continues, the match official
will abandon the game.
5. If the game is abandoned, the match
official must submit a report into the FFSA
within 48 hours outlining the reasons for
terminating the game and also identifying
the offending club players, officials and/or
spectators.
Club officials involved in the incident
must also prepare and submit the AOFC
Juniors’ complaint form, to the Junior
Director, within 24 hours after the incident
(juniordirector@aofc.com.au).
6. On receipt of the report, FFSA will
investigate the incident. A report will be
required from the clubs participating in
the game and all match officials that
attended the game. Junior Director will
engage and resolve the matter on behalf of
the club with FFSA.
7. Following the investigation
following action may be taken:
the
a) A club is deemed guilty of
inappropriate behaviour and Rule 30
(Senior Men/Juniors) of the
Competition Rules and Regulations
will be implemented.
b) The matter is referred to the
Disciplinary Committee for
adjudication.
IMPORTANT – any incidents at a match
must be reported to Junior Director, together
with the AOFC Juniors’ complaint form.
Coach’s Corner:
This month, we have asked our U13 JPL
team coach, Dario Vojdani, to say a few
words.
What’s your name, and what’s your role
within Adelaide Olympic FC?
My name is Dario Vojdani, I’m coaching
the U13 JPL team.
Do you have a child/children in our club?
Yes, my son Amin, is the Goal Keeper in
the U13 JPL team.
How many years have you been with
Adelaide Olympic FC? And where were
you before that?
We joined the club last year for the U12
team. Since the first session, we felt
welcome, and I tried to accompany all the
trainings and games last year with Stav
and Carl coaching.
This season, Kimmy Pham Soe, our Junior
Director, originally asked me to step up as
Assistant Coach to the U13 team, and at
the same time supported me to get
licenced through the FFSA accreditation
coach programs which I completed in
November last year, but life has different
plans.
With my eldest son, we were with
Western Strikers for a few years.
Did you play soccer, i.e. which position
and for whom?
I was born in Argentina, so you play,
watch, dream and breathe soccer. I never
attended training in a club, and I never got

a formal training. I used to be the goal
keeper and striker. I moved with my
family to Australia 8 years ago.
Favorite player over the years?
Mario Kempes, (Golden Boot World Cup
1978 in Argentina, and he is from my club,
Rosario Central). These days, I really enjoy
watching Lionel Messi and Angel Di
Maria.
Any interests outside the club?
I like to be with people, work for the
community and try to contribute to the
betterment of this world.
April 2015
One word you would use to describe
Adelaide Olympic FC so far?
It’s a beautiful club environment where
parents feel welcome, and everyone
humbly works for the development of our
kids. I‘m really thankful to the Junior
Committee and their authorities for this
opportunity, trust and support.
Next newsletter:
We intend to send out our newsletter on a
monthly basis. Next one to be sent out by
end of May.
How do you prepare for the training for
your team?
I use the FFSA curriculum, it’s a
wonderful tool. I try to make a weekly
plan that fits to a six week program.
Martin Brown is my Assistant Coach, and
I really enjoy working with him. We talk
before training and games, to adjust or
modify some exercises to adapt them
better to the skills and need of our boys.
What will be your primary focus at
training and game days for your team this
season?
I really want the boys to be eager to learn.
I learn myself every single day. Excellence
can be achieved being better today than
yesterday and aiming to improve for
tomorrow, small steps, but always giving
your best, in training, in the game and in
life. We live in a society that seeks instant
rewards; I believe that in life we need to
work hard; that’s the only path for success.
What are the mile stones that you would
like for your team to achieve this season?
We’re starting to play as a team now, and
it feels wonderful. You can see it in their
faces. I really would like to help them to
master the basic skills (we’re not all at the
same level yet), to improve the
understanding of the game (learn to read
the game and take decisions accordingly)
and hopefully to contribute in the
development of my boys in this critical
age. I’m very proud of our boys.
