RESIDENT S
ESSAGE
Greetings Brothers,
Well, it appears Spring has finally sprung, and I know we are all happy about that. Our next meeting will be on Friday, May 8th, 2015. I will be out of town on business but I know you have a seasoned hand at the tiller with our Worthy Vice President, Tom Flynn. Please come out to the May meeting and get updated on upcoming events!
During April, we had a great monthly meeting that was well attended. Our Night at the Races to benefit the Fleming
Scholarship Fund was a success, a great time had by all and $700 raised for the Fund. Thanks to Chris Debold for his
continued great work! We also had a SELL OUT for our Ireland's 32 Raffle! Thanks to Dennis Browne and Billy
O'Donnell for their hard work and to all who participated. Congratulations to all the winners!
Our Bethel Woods Raffle looks to be a sell out. As I am coordinating the raffle and will be away May 8th, the raffle
drawing will take place in conjunction with the LAOH Mother's Day Brunch at our Hall on Sunday, May 10th. Please
support both events!
Congratulations to our newly elected JDJ Board Members, Neil O'Riordan, Ken Quinn and Jimmy McLaughlin and our
returning member Rob Ronayne, who join myself, Tom Keahon and Charlie Bohan on the Board. There will be some
upcoming projects in our Hall and building that will require some sweat equity, so if you are able and willing to help,
please let us know at the May Meeting, there will be a sign up sheet for you to add you contact information so we can
reach out to you.
Speaking of help wanted and ALL IRISH NEED APPLY: Our County Convention will be on Saturday, May
16th. We need:
1. A work party to assist in preparing the Hall on Friday May 15th, please see John DeCourcey.
2. We need THREE additional delegates. If you are not already committed as a delegate, please add you
name to the sign up sheet at the May meeting. Let's not show up short and lose votes, if you are available
May 16th from 11 to 2 please help represent the Division!
When you attend the Convention, please remember you will need to have in your possession your 2015
AOH membership card and be a member in good standing, having paid your dues for 2015.
There will be a fund raiser for Brother Dennis Griffin's children on May 30th at he Washingtonville Knights
of Columbus. Tickets for $25 are at the bar, they enter you into a raffle for 2 round trip Jet Blue Tickets
and other prizes and serve as your admission ticket to the fundraiser, which starts at 4PM.
Sunday, June 14th will be the Joseph Duelk Mass at St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville. Assembly at
11:40 for a 12 Noon Mass and Wreath Laying to follow at Joe's grave. Collation at the Hall thereafter. Please support this event, a remember Joe's sacrifice for his Country.
