PhD??
Why think of a PhD?
• I am really fascinated by my study domain. Preparing and
conceptualising my masterproof was really fun!
• I would like to focus on one specific research topic during the
coming (4) years and to come up with original research
findings.
• I am ready to work independently on my research topic, with
the support of a supervisor and a research group.
• I am looking forward to sharing my research interests with
peers through presentations on (international) conferences,
publications, exhibitions, …
• Next to my academic qualities, I would like to work on my
general skills and relate my research to social challenges.
• …
You aim for an academic career?
A PhD can be more than that!
• Only 10% of all PhD’s have an academic career
on a longer term!
• The doctoral programme is more than only
research!
• Finishing a PhD shows that you acquired skills
such as critical reflection, creativity,
persistence,…
