What: ANNUAL FRIENDS MEETING
When: Thursday April 23rd at 2 p.m.
Where: Artist Series Concerts Office
Come and enjoy the last meeting of the 2014-2015 season
when we’ll say thank you to Jane Riggin, our outgoing
President, and welcome our new President, Olivia
Swaan... and to see FRIENDS, experience wonderful
entertainment by Jonathan Herman, enjoy delicious
treats and hear all about next year’s exciting concert
season.
Jonathan Herman is a rising bass-baritone
singer, classically trained by former lead
baritone of the Metropolitan Opera, John
Fiorito. Jonathan’s passion for the stage
extends to many genres, ranging from
Broadway and film, to opera, pop,
country, and jazz. He also plays Nuevo
Flamenco and acoustic fingerstyle
guitar.
His technical prowess and natural
command of the stage blend
seamlessly to form the foundation of his
performances. With great style and vigor,
Jonathan presents modern and well-loved interpretations of both
favorites and lesser known works, creating
moments of
thoughtful beauty, gripping drama and elation for all to share.
Best experienced live, Jonathan is an
expressive and eloquent
storyteller, always striving to bring compelling, rousing, and
significant stagecraft to
audiences of all ages.
President’s Message From Jane Riggin
Dear FRIENDS,
It is certainly true – “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun”! I can’t believe that I
have been the President of FRIENDS for three years. It has been a wonderful
journey filled with
joyful
wonderful people, lovely concerts,
spectacular Galas and
meetings. Thank you so much for giving me this very special honor.
It has been my pleasure to serve with such talented people on all three Board of
Directors and Committees. I hope you will be at our Annual Meeting on Thursday,
April 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Artist Series Concerts Office, to help me say a big
“thank you” to these truly wonderful people.
Congratulations to our new President, Olivia Swaan, and the Board. I know they will do a great job and
will have a great time doing it.
Enjoy your summer and thank you from the bottom of my heart for a wonderful tenure as President.
Warmly, Jane
EDUCATION OUTREACH
Dr. David Pope, Manatee HS Director of Orchestras, said “Thank you again for
allowing my students to hear the Ying Quartet. I have hosted many ensembles at
my school, and they were one of the most engaging I have ever hosted.”
Each OUTREACH appearance by the Artist Series musicians included wonderful
interactions with local students, both as performers and in the Q & A sessions.
In addition to the Ying Quartet, here’s where it also happened: Robert Fleitz at
Booker HS, The Morgenstern Trio at Riverview HS, Klea Blackhurst at State
College of Florida, Adrian Anantawan & Amy Yang at Braden River HS, U.S.
