IDEAS GENERATOR
Giving your shop window some Vintage Festival flare for the Festival Shop
Window Challenge is not nearly as difficult as might think. Here are a few ideas
that might help you get started.
•
The Vintage theme brings with it lots of items or ideas that could feature in your window – think about
incorporating wine, bottles, barrels, corks, wine glasses, vines, vine leaves, glasses, scarecrows, parades,
wine labels, fine food, festival queens, scarecrows, agriculture, there are just so many…. Take this as an
opportunity to be creative!
•
Contact a local school and work with a classroom or art student to help you with your window design
and development.
•
Work with a local artist to create a work of art for your window – and when the festival is over you’ll still
have a great piece of art to enjoy, give away or use for other promotions. You can find an artist on the
Barossa Art Music Design Register online at www.artmusicdesignbarossa.org.au
•
Repetition is good – sometimes the simple and plainest of things can look really interesting en masse –
maybe you have a product that you could use?
•
Check out Pinterest – it’s a great resource for art and design and provides great images on just about
every topic you can think of – go to www.pinterest.com
•
Use it as a chance to test out your merchandising skills and experiment – there are lots of websites that
provide hints and tips about merchandising - check out the top ten tips for designing more effective

•
Partner with a local wine or food producer and come up with a design together.
•
You could do something interesting with vintage photographs and images!
•
Check out the op shops and the junkyard – you never know
what interesting vintage things you might find.
•
Remember it is all in the name of fun! And it’s a great way to get your
Vintage Festival vibe happening.
Windows need to be ready for judging by Monday 13 April.
