Conference Qualifying Berths to State: The 2015 Soccer State
Championships will be held over three days at two fields and will
have eight boys and girls teams that qualify from the following
conferences: • Cook Inlet Conference = 3 berths
• Northern Lights Conference = 3 berths
• Mid Alaska Conference = 1 berth
• Southeast Conference = 1 berth
Seeding of Qualifiers: The seeding process is a random draw
between the teams who have qualified. This was adopted by ASAA in
2012. Championship Format: There are two soccer tournaments (boys
and girls) held simultaneously at two locations, each tournament is an
11-game event with consolation games played to 3rd and 4th place,
but not 7th and 8th. Game Schedule: Complete game schedule is located on ASAA.org Soccer Game Schedule Reporting Conference Game Ejections: Should a player or coach
be ejected in the conference tournament, it is the responsibility of the
school to notify the ASAA office. It is the school’s responsibility to
ensure that a player or coach involved does not participate that is not
eligible.
Roster: The soccer roster is limited to a maximum of 22 players in
uniform. A copy of the submitted roster will be included in the
coaches packet. Coaches must verify their official roster at the
coaches meeting. If there are changes to roster turn in a corrected
roster at that time. Following the coaches meeting, NO CHANGES to
roster personnel may be made. If jersey numbers change, coaches must
notify scorekeepers and announcer prior to the start of the game.

• Mandatory Coaches Meeting at
Bartlett High School
Bench Personnel: Only participants that are in uniform and on rosters, and a maximum of up to 6 other
personnel. Those six passes include the coaches, managers, statisticians, and administrative. Allowed on the
bench for a total of 28 individuals. Additional personnel requests must be cleared with the ASAA
representative. Any player who is ejected in a previous game may NOT DRESS for the next game and must
be under adult supervision. Any Coach who is ejected in a previous game may not attend the next game.
Coaches Meeting: At Bartlett High School School on Wednesday, May 27th at 7:00 PM there will be a
mandatory meeting. Coaches packets, passes, and tournament instructions will be distributed and reviewed. 2015 SOCCER STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS POLICIES & PROCEDURES
Passes: Players, Managers, Coaches, and Support Staff (admin, drivers, etc) will receive a pass at the
coaches meeting prior to the tournament. Pass numbers for teams are limited and WILL NOT receive more
passes than what is allotted. See the ASAA State Championship Pass Policy. Anyone attempting to enter
ASAA events with a fraudulent pass will be denied entry and may be removed from the facility and denied
entrance. Example: parents entering with a “participant pass”. High School Administrators should already
have general ASAA pass and do not need a sport specific pass to enter. Card System: Officials will use the NFHS card system. This will be discussed at the coaches meeting. Soccer Rules: The event will be conducted in compliance with the 2014-15 National Federation Soccer Rule
Book and ASAA adoptions on page 88-89 of the ASAA handbook.
Tie game procedure.
Games which are tied at the end of 80 minutes will be resolved in the following manner outlined on pages
86-87 of the National Federation Soccer Rules.
- Two full 10-minute overtime periods (not sudden-victory).
- If still tied, there shall be two five-minute sudden-victory periods where first team to score wins.
- If still tied, a shoot-out of five players picked by the coach will occur (not sudden-victory).
- If still tied, another shoot-out with five different players picked by the coach will occur (sudden-victory).
- 3rd and 4th place games that end in ties will not go into overtime or shootouts.
Practice Times: Practice times will be scheduled for teams at Bartlett and Eagle River High School. The
schedule will be posted on the ASAA website Tuesday morning at the latest - Soccer State Information.
Field Rules: NO SUNFLOWER SEEDS, DRINKS OTHER THAN WATER, GUM, OR PEANUTS are allowed on
the field! Home Team: Home team is TOP OF THE BRACKET and will sit on the RIGHT SIDE when facing the field from
the bench area. Home team will wear the LIGHT color. Visiting Team: Visiting team is BOTTOM OF THE BRACKET and will sit on the LEFT SIDE when facing the
field from the bench area. Visiting team will wear DARK color. Colors: Home team is responsible to change uniform if both teams have the same color and are requested to
change by the referee. (see Rule 4.1)
Soccer Balls: ASAA will provide balls for warm-ups. Game balls are provided by Anaconda a proud sponsor
of ASAA. You are welcome to bring your own soccer balls for warm up if desired. Water: Teams are responsible for providing their own water. Medical: Medical coverage will be provided by OPA. Ice will be available in emergencies.
Photography/Videotaping (Parents, Yearbook and School/Team Photo/Video: No flash photography.
Fans, parents, coaches, school employees, etc. are not allowed to photograph outside the spectator area.
Designated areas outside the spectator area are reserved for working members of the media and ASAA’s
official photographer. Video service of each game will not be provided by ASAA. Teams are encouraged to
make other arrangements if they wish a video copy of their game. If present in non-spectator areas, they will
be removed. Only ASAA Credentialed Media are allowed to by outside the spectator area.
Event Supervision: Each participating school will be requested to identify a faculty representative who is
responsible for the conduct of its participants and students throughout the contest, as defined in the ASAA

Results: All results will be posted online as soon as possible after each game on the Soccer State Results
page.
State Merchandise: Northwest Designs is the Official State Merchandise Vendor. NWD will have a large
variety of apparel and feature on-site printing with customized made to order commemorative items. A web
store is also available online at ASAA.org/store. Admission Prices: One price all day
• Adults – $10.00
• Students (gr. 7-12) – $5.00
• Elders (65+) - Free • 6th grade and under – Free • Adult Tournament Pass – $25 • Student Tournament Pass – $12 • School passes honored during regular season are NOT valid for the state tournament.
Awards: Awards for all girls teams will be presented at the end of the Girls Championship Game. Awards for
all boys teams will be presented at the end of the Boys Championship Game.
Team Awards: - 1st and 2nd Place Team Trophies
- Academic Award for each tournament
- Sportsmanship Award for each tournament
Individual Awards:
- Medals for members of the 1st and 2nd Place teams - Medals for the 14 members of the All-Tournament Team
- Awards for the Good Sport Team athletes
Participation Fee: The Board of Directors has authorized the assessment of a participation fee for all state
championships and festivals. The fee for athletic teams will be $10 per student participant with a maximum
fee of $150 for those teams of 15 or more participants. Once the deadline for withdrawals and substitutions
has passed the state meet, the roster will be considered final and schools will be invoiced that amount
following the event.

SOCCER GAME PROTOCOL
PRIOR TO GAME TIME
Warm-ups: Each team is guaranteed 15 minutes of warm-up time prior to the game start. If we are ahead of
schedule, that time will be extended to the proper beginning game time. No game will begin before its
scheduled time. Warm up time remaining will be noted on the clock.
Warm-up Areas: This will be discussed at the coaches meeting on where and when teams will be allowed to
warm up. Introductions: Introductions shall start 5 minutes before scheduled game time. World Cup formation will be
followed. Officials will lead both teams out in single file to face the main bleachers and the peal off in one
single line facing the audience. As players are introduced, they will step forward.
- First Game: The ENTIRE TEAM will be introduced before their first game. - Semi-Finals and Consolation Games: Only the STARTERS will be introduced. - Championship Games: The ENTIRE TEAM will be introduced before their game. National Anthems: Will be played/sung at these times:
Thursday: before first game of day at both fields
Friday: before first game of day at both fields
Saturday: Before the Girls Championship Game
Late/Absent Team Procedure: If a team is late to their scheduled game time due to weather or travel
difficulties, arrangements will be made by tournament staff for the appropriate rescheduling of that game. If a
team is late due to other reasons not related to weather or travel, the game may be delayed for a maximum of
15 minutes. After that period of time, if the team has not appeared and has not contacted ASAA, the game
shall be recorded as a forfeit. A team arriving 0-15 minutes after their scheduled time of play will have a
maximum of 5 minutes of warm up time.
DURING THE GAME
Overtime: The tie game procedure in the 2014-15 Soccer NFHS rulebook will be followed. When the score is
tied at the end of regulation time, there will be a 5-minute break and head referee will instruct both teams as
to this procedure:
1. There shall be two, full 10-minute overtime periods (not sudden victory) a. A coin toss shall be held as in Rule 5-2-2
b. At end of first 10 min. period, teams will change ends.
c. There shall be a 2-minute interval between periods.
2. If tie still exists, there shall be two 5-min. sudden victory periods in which the first team to score wins.
3. If the score still remains tied, there shall be penalty kicks as follows:
a. Head Referee shall choose the goal at which all kicks from the penalty mark shall be taken.
b. Each coach will select any five players, including GK, on or off the field (except those who may
have been disqualified).
c. The team winning the coin toss shall have the choice of kicking first or second.
d. Teams will alternate kickers. There is no follow-up on the kick.

The defending team may change the GK prior to each kick.
Following five kicks for each team, the team scoring on the greatest number of kicks shall be
declared the winner.
4. If the score remains tied after each team has had five kicks:
a. Each coach will select five different players than the first five who already have kicked to take
kicks in a sudden-victory situation, wherein if one team scores and the other team does not
score, the game is ended without more kicks being taken. b. If a team has fewer than ten available players at the end of the first set of kicks from the
penalty mark due to either injuries or disqualification, the coach must use all players who have
not participated in the first five kicks. The coach may choose players from the first five kickers
to ensure that five different players participate in the second set of kicks.
c. If the score remain tied, continue the sudden-victory kicks with the coach selecting any five
players to take the next set of alternating kicks.
5. During all tiebreaker penalty kicks, the ball remains alive until its momentum is spent, goes out of
bounds, or it is retouched by the kicker.
AFTER THE GAME
Players and coaches will shake hands of the other team demonstrating good sportsmanship. Teams will wait
until the Players of the Game from both teams are announced before exiting the field. On Thursday before the
POG presentation we will present the Good Sport Award for both teams. Teams must clean up bench area of all personnel items including jerseys, warm-ups, water bottles, towels,
etc. Teams that play next shall wait until the teams that just played have exited the field before approaching their
assigned benches. After each championship game, both teams will remain on the field at their respective benches for the awards
ceremony. The two teams playing in the next championship game may not approach the bench nor warm up
on the field until the Awards Ceremony is completed.
