The Eastern Kentucky University Interpreter Outreach Program proudly presents “I Need My Space” Presented by Crom Saunders Presented in two parts April 3, 2015 from 6:00 pm- 9:00 pm (Registration begins at 5:30 PM ) April 4, 2015 8:30 am – 11:30 am (Registration begins at 8:00 AM ) University of Louisville Strickler Hall Room 102 Louisville, KY Professional Development Session: Many people who use ASL find some difficulty with 3-‐D mapping, understanding when a signer’s point of view shifts, and where to, and real-‐world orientation versus narrative mapping. This workshop will help participants develop general tools for understanding, applying and using spatial classifiers, directional descriptions, real-‐world and virtual descriptions of a particular environment or setting. The Presenter: Crom Saunders; Crom Saunders grew up in Northern California, and graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a M.A. in Creative Writing. In addition to several appearances in full productions, improv events, The Encyclopedia Show, and performing with the ASL Comedy Tour circuit, Crom has his own one-‐man show, “Cromania!”, which tours internationally, featuring skits incorporating over 40 different characters, comedy, improv, and storytelling, often in American Sign Language, but also in other sign languages. Crom also has interpreted dozens of plays, from children’s theatre to musicals and has taught dozens of ASL linguistics and theatrical workshops across the nation. He currently teaches at the ITP program featured at Columbia College, Chicago, and is working on launching a nationally touring ASL Improv show. He is one of the co-‐founders of the Chicago-‐ based arts organization, The Five Eyes Project. Crom has also been gaining recognition online with his Clogs, his unique vlogs which have been viewed by thousands of people on YouTube and Facebook.
