The Australia Pacific Islands Business Council is arranging the 11th Australia New Caledonia Business Forum in Noumea on Monday 4
May 2015. This Forum was first held in 2005 and has been held in Brisbane each year since, with a mini-Forum additionally held in
Townsville in 2007. This year marks a new milestone for the Australia New Caledonia Business Forum which for the first time will be
held in New Caledonia. The Forum brings together annually representatives of business and government from Australia and New
Caledonia to discuss and explore opportunities to further grow the bilateral business and economic relationship between our two
economies. This year’s Forum will include sessions on the bilateral business and economic relationship, the New Caledonia
economy, regional development and export readiness of New Caledonia businesses, the New Caledonia business environment,
resources update (New Caledonia contains one-third of known global nickel reserves), an update on work being done to
harmonise standards between Australia and New Caledonia to facilitate business growth, training and education opportunities in
New Caledonia, opportunities for partnership between Australian and New Caledonian companies and institutions in research and
development, Australian companies’ success stories in New Caledonia, and more. The Forum will coincide with a visit to New
Caledonia by a delegation of business arranged by AustMine.
