The Qatar Academy Al Khor (QAK) community is seeking applications from individuals
motivatedtoadvancebestpracticesandfosterteachingexcellenceinPrimarySchooleducation.
Inparticular,QAKisseekingandexperienced,bilingual,femaleadministratorforthisposition.
AtQatarAcademyAlKhor,thePrimarySchoolAssistantPrincipalwill beresponsibleforthe
managementofthePrimarySchoolprogram,undertheleadershipoftheDirector.Asamember
oftheAdministrativeTeam,thePrimarySchoolAssistantPrincipalwillplayanimportantrole
in the refinement and implementation of the Qatar Foundation strategic vision for Primary
SchoolEducationwithinQatar.Adetaileddescriptionofthepositionincludingqualifications,

SCHOOLDESCRIPTION
QatarAcademyAlKhor(QAK)isanInternationalBaccalaureateWorldSchoolalsoaccreditedby
theMiddleStatesAssociationofCollegesandSchools.Theschooloffersacademicexcellencein
thePrimaryYears,MiddleYears(MYP)andIBDiplomaprogramsbasedontheprinciplethat
educationinvolvesthedevelopmentofastudent’scognitive,physical,social,moralandaffective
capabilities.
Adynamicclassroomcurriculumcombinedwithcommunityandserviceprograms,experiential
education,andextra‐curricularactivitiesenablestudentstoparticipateintheireducationfrom
PrimarythroughGrade12.Studentsarearespectedpartofthelearningcommunitysharedwith
parentsandteachers.Theyareencouragedtoberisktakers,askquestionsandconfidentlyseek
answers.
HISTORY
QatarAcademyAlKhoropenedinSeptemberof2008toprovidequalityinternationaleducation
opportunitiestotheQatarichildrenofAlKhorandthesurroundingarea.Theschoolispartof
the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, a vision of Her
HighnessSheikhaMozabintNasser.Theschoolhasexperiencedrapidgrowthsinceitopened
with147studentstoits’currentenrollmentof625students.Theschoolbeganwithclassesfrom
KGtogradefourandeachyearanadditionalgradehasbeenadded.Theeleventhgradewillbe
addedforthe2015‐2016academicyearandthengradetwelvethefollowingyear.Theexpected
capacityofQAKis1,500.
TheplansforthegrowthofQAKincludetheconstructionofanewstateoftheartschoolcampus
thatisprojectedtoopenduringthe2016academicyear.
LOCATION
AlKhorisacoastalcitylocatedabout50KilometersnorthofthecapitalcityDoha.Inaddition
to the Qatari families, Al Khor is also home to many employees of the oil industry due to it
proximitytoQatar’snorthernoilandnaturalgasfieldsandtotheRasLaffanIndustrialcity.Al
KhorisconsideredoneofthelargestQataricities.AlKhorisproudofhostingthebiggestoiland
gasextractingfactoriesintheworld.
DohaisthecapitalofQatar–asovereignArabstate–locatedinWesternAsiaandoccupyingthe
smallQatarPeninsulaonthenortheasterlycoastoftheArabianPeninsula.Itssolelandborder
iswithSaudiArabiatothesouth,withtherestofitsterritorysurroundedbytheArabianGulf.
TheAlThanifamilyhasruledQatarsincethemid‐19thcentury.FormerlyaBritishprotectorate
notedmainlyforthepearlindustry,itbecameindependentin1971,andhasbecomeoneofthe
region'swealthieststatesduetoitsenormousoilandnaturalgasrevenues.
TheschoolisundertheumbrellaoftheQatarFoundation(QF),whichwasfoundedin1995by
decreeofHisHighnessSheikhHamadbinKhalifaAlThani,EmirofQatar.ThecurrentEmirishis
son, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Qatar Foundation is chaired by Her
HighnessSheikhaMozabintNasser.Itsaimisto"supportQataronitsjourneyfromacarbon
economytoaknowledgeeconomybyunlockinghumanpotential".
Qatar Foundation carries out this mission through three "pillars": education, science and
research,andcommunitydevelopment.QF’sworkintheeducationfieldhasbroughtanumber
ofinternationaluniversitiestoQatartohelpdevelopaneducationsectorinwhichyoungpeople

POSITIONOVERVIEW
ThePrimarySchoolAssistantPrincipalreportstotheDirector.
In collaboration with the School Director, the Primary School Assistant Principal’s role is to
manage the Primary School Division. The Assistant Principal is accountable for the effective
development, delivery, and evaluation of the Primary School educational programs. In
exercising this responsibility, the Primary School Assistant Principal will have input into
decisionsregardingtheprogram,budget,andstaff.Themanagementoftheschool’sprograms
requiresthePrimarySchoolAssistantPrincipaltoanalyzetheneedsofthestudentstoultimately
transformtheeducationalstructuresintoastrong,collaborativeteachingcommunitytosupport
thestrategicvision,mission,andobjectivesoftheAcademy.
