The Arizona Dragon Boat Association (AZDBA) is a non-profit, 501(c)
(3) organization, whose goals are to promote dragon boating as an
opportunity for our youth, adults, seniors, and corporate employees
to become an equal member of a team, while having fun, enhancing
their own personal fitness, creating friendships, and developing
respect for team members, and promoting awareness of cultural
diversity.
The organization was founded in 2003 and has since successfully
hosted eleven dragon boat festivals at Tempe Town Lake. The 2014
event featured more than seventy
dragon boat teams with over 5,000
spectators and participants, and
raised donations for Arizona
Disabled Sports.
The AZDBA offers year-round
dragon boating at Tempe Town
Lake. For more information, please

Dear Dragon Boat Festival participants and spectators:
Welcome to the Twelfth Annual Dragon Boat Festival at
Tempe Town Lake! Tempe is proud to host this exciting
and fun event, while celebrating our community’s
diversity and engaging in a spirited and colorful
competition.
The members of the Dragon Boat Association work so
hard to beautifully integrate art, athleticism, family
entertainment and community service. But while fun
and laughter is a part of the day, the Dragon Boat
Association members should also be commended
donating the proceeds of this event to charity. Their
commitment to giving back to the community is
admirable.
On behalf of the City of Tempe, we thank the Dragon
Boat Association and its supporters for making Tempe
your home this weekend, and we wish you the best of
times!
Sincerely,
Mark W. Mitchell, Mayor
