PRESIDENTS FORUM
I have to apologize to all of you. I had a
bad cold and didn't make it to the March
campout. I will make it in April. Hope you
all have a happy Easter and can make it to

wheel when traveling and come back to the regular
shape when stopped. Why is that?
The April 9-11 rally is up I-17 a little farther to
Distant Drums RV Resort. Grace and Dan Fogarty
are rally masters. We have been there before and it
was a good venue. As usual I am sure great times
will roll. Look for registration form now.
Keep happy and healthy. Have a great summer.

WAGONMASTER REPORT
The March rally was busy and yet relaxing. Jim and Barbara Taylor had every
detail worked out in advance. Thank you
both for a very good rally. The Andersons, and Lussons just followed directions. Dewey David and
Carl Limbach helped with the parking. We had extra help from a lot of people.
Some members came in early and paid the office
directly for the extra days. Some went to "Out of Africa" again and some went to the "Blazin' M Ranch"
again for the dinner show. The games of choice
were. Crazy Canasta, Poker, Cribbage and Pegs and
Jokers. Pegs & Jokers group is growing.
Suzanne and Paul Vallejos' "Broadway to Branson" show was a great entertainment investment.
They gave Jeff Vogel a business card in case we do
New Year's at Tonopah.
Every committee meal was new/different and plenty
of it. Three waffle irons were able to keep up with
the members' demands for one breakfast. We not eat
popcorn at the movie because everyone was too full.
I was responsible for the coffee and I want to pass on
this information. For our two new 42 cup coffee
pots; For a full pot of water add 2 cups of coffee
grounds. There is a 24 cup mark for the water level.
For this half pot amount, add l cup of coffee grounds.
You can please most everyone except Lee Anderson
with that mixture.
Karen Reed and Sharon Diaz came in first and second on the "whack a marshmallow" the farthest with
a golf club. The marshmallows are shaped like a

A FEW PLACES TO SEE
Montezuma's Castle
The Montezuma Castle National Monument is one of the
most well-preserved and accessible ancient dwellings in
North America. Built amongst the limestone, these 1,000
year-old ruins were once home to ancient farmers known
3
as the Sinagua Indians. Although the monument has
adopted the title “castle” due to its majestic appearance,
the ruins were actually a multi-family cliff dwelling (similar to a modern-day high-rise apartment complex). Fee $5

taxi driver.
The taxi driver did as he was told and followed St
Peter to a mansion. It had everything you could imagine from a bowling alley to an Olympic size pool.
'Oh my word, thank you,' said the taxi driver.
Next, St. Peter led the priest to a rough old shack
with a bunk bed and a little old television set.
'Wait, I think you are a little mixed up,' said the
priest. 'Shouldn't I be the one who gets the mansion?
After all I was a priest, went to church every day, and
preached God's word.'
'Yes, that's true.' St Peter rejoined, 'But during your
Easter sermons people slept. When the taxi driver
drove, everyone prayed.'
*****
A father was reading Bible stories to his young
son. He read, 'The man named Lot was warned to
take his wife and flee out of the city, but his wife
looked back and was turned to salt.'
His son asked, 'What happened to the flea?'
Gold King Mine and Ghost Town - Jerome
Don’t miss the Gold King Mine & Ghost Town. The location of the historic Gold King Mine was originally the site
of Haynes, Arizona, which in 1890, was a small suburb of
the larger town of Jerome, one mile north. When the
Haynes Copper Company dug a 1200-foot-deep shaft in
search of copper, they were disappointed at the absence of
copper, but miners hit gold instead. The site is now a museum where visitors can see continuous demonstrations of
antique mining equipment and the operation of a turn-ofthe-century sawmill daily. Other highlights include walks
in an authentic mine shaft, animals to pet and feed, a circa
1901 blacksmith shop, and the world’s largest gas engines. The Museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. until
5:00 p.m. Facilities include rest rooms and a large parking
area.
Montezuma's Well
Montezuma Well, a unit of Montezuma Castle, is located
11 miles from the park. It was formed long ago by the collapse of a limestone cavern, over one million gallons of
water a day flows continuously into the Well. This constant supply of warm, fresh water provides an aquatic habitat like no other in the world, and has served as an oasis for
wildlife and humans for thousands of years. Fee $5

FROM THE EDITORS DESK
Jim & Barbara Taylor put on a great
rally. Unfortunately, I missed out on the
fun do to having Muffie at the vets twice
in two weeks. Thank you Jim and Barbara and John Lusson for doing the write up and
letting us know how much fun we missed.
Our next rally is at Distant Drums and will be the
last until October. The park is clean, with paved
roads, a lot of amenities and close to different places
to see in Jerome, Sedona, and Cottonwood. Dan &
Grace have planned activities and a fun time. Don't
miss out on getting your $10 free play from the park.
Who knows you might parlay that into some big
bucks.
Dragonfly Nightclub – Live music, dancing and
fun every Friday & Saturday night starting at 9pm.
No Cover Charge. Aces & Eights
(rock/blues/country) will be appearing April 10 &
April 11 from 9 pm -1am. The professional 4 member group performs a repertoire ranging from 70’s
favorites to today, with a little blues, funk & country
thrown in to satisfy everyone.
Fort Verde State Historic Park
The Fort is the best-preserved example of it’s time period in Arizona. Several of the original buildings still stand
and living history programs are scheduled periodically,
giving visitors a glimpse into Arizona’s history. Two
popular annual park events include Fort Verde Days in the
fall and History of the Soldier in the spring. Open Thurs Mon 9A-5P.
These are just a few of the many places in the
area to see.

BAD FUEL
I recently bought diesel fuel at AVI casino north of
Bullhead, (about 25 gallons) fortunately it was just
my truck, I barely made it back to Phoenix. My fuel
system had to be flushed and filters replaced due to
water in the fuel. I'm sure glad it wasn't my motor home!
