This is a favorite part of our monthly meeting. FREE LECTURES AT THE 2012 DALLAS QUILT SHOW This year lectures will be offered free of charge - these are different from the demos that are at the front of the show, and are held in the rear of the show near where we will enter the building. Lectures will run about 45 minutes, and both of these nationally known speakers will have a trunk show of their quilts on Friday. Friday at 11 am Cindy Erickson will be speaking about scrap quilts. She is one of the judges for the show this year and will be giving a lecture entitled "Confessions of a Scrapper" She sounds really fun. Then after lunch on Friday at 2 pm Trish Stuart will be sharing her floral creations as she speaks of her "Journey of a Quilter". She is a creative delight that you will enjoy. I know that there are a lot of quilts to see already and SO much fabric that needs a new home, but if your feet get tired or you simply want to take advantage of hearing one of these nationally known speakers, then make it a point in your schedule. You'll be glad that you did. And if you happen to be going to the show on Saturday, Carol Morrissey will be speaking at 11 am on her quilts entitled " Flowers+Photos+Fabric=Quilts" I'm really excited about these lectures, as I got to pick them each out : Hope to see you there! It allows us to privately share info, photos, files, etc. Membership in the group is restricted to members of the Sherman guild. The Group is very beneficial for archiving guild-related documents and maintaining databases along with providing the e-mail list we use to share info. Is There an Easy Way to Send An E-Mail to Guild Members? Yes Use the following as your TO: address Volume 17, Issue #5 Want to See Photos From Show and Tell? NOTE IF THE MEMBER ZONE PASSSWORD IS CHANGED YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED VIA E-MAIL. quilt_guild_sherman@yahoogroups.com The YAHOO GROUP is beneficial but it is not as easy to access (USER-FRIENDLY) as the Guild Website. http://shermanquiltguild.org/ The guild established a website in May 2010. While the Yahoo Group provides some good benefits (e.g. mail list), the Website is more user-friendly. An individual searching for information on a quilt guild in Sherman, Texas should be directed to our website. The website provides general information on the public pages and allows for guild members to easily access current and past newsletters and membership directory using password protection. The guild bylaws, library listing, and access to related links are provided on the website.
