Fifty albums later, she remains a vigorous writer and performer of songs that create hope and healing and speak to the heart. A Special Event Chris Thile, of Punch Brothers, is a mandolin virtuoso, composer and vocalist whose lyrical fusion of traditional bluegrass with other musical styles is giving rise to a new genre of contemporary music. A recent MacArthur “genius grant” recipient, Thile’s broad outlook encompasses progressive bluegrass, classical, rock and jazz and often transcends the borders of traditional musical genres. On this new solo program, he draws from his new Bach recording, while also exploring his own compositions and contemporary music.
