The overall competition winner will be chosen by our appointed panel of judges, from
winners of the age group categories.

Round One Heats are open to all age categories:

Finals Day – Semi Finals and Finals

Availability for Competition
All entrants must be available for at least one Round 1 qualifying heat relevant to their age
category, plus Semi-Finals and Finals Day (see competition dates for details)
All Under 16 entrants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or other
nominated responsible adult.
Performance Rules
Performance rules are the same for every round of competition as follows:
A maximum of 2 persons will be accepted per competition entrant
No backing tracks – solo artists must play their own instrument (which will be limited to
keyboard or guitar only, or other instrument subject to prior arrangement/agreement), or
perform with a supporting instrumentalist (guitarist or keyboard player only, or other
instrument subject to advanced arrangement/agreement)*
Live performances must not exceed 3 minutes and 30 seconds
All competitors must be available for their nominated Round 1 qualifying Heat, plus Semi
Finals to be held on Friday 11th September 2015 at the The Berkswell and District Royal
British Legion, plus Finals Day at The Balsall Common Festival on Saturday 19th September
2015.
Competition judge’s decisions are final and non-negotiable in every round of competition
including the initial applications process. No queries, or correspondence will be entered
into the judge’s decisions by any competitor, or their parents, or legal guardians.
There will be a spectators fee of £2.00 per person at all qualifying competitions staged at
The Berkswell & District Royal British Legion.
All competition entrants must reside within the competition catchment area, based upon
the Heart of England School catchment area, or have provable links to the catchment area
either by means of residence, or thanks to former pupilship at any schools of education
within the competition catchment area.
Under 16s who qualify for Finals Day at Balsall Common Festival must be accompanied by a
parent or guardian.
* Balsall’s Got the Voice competition organisers canhelp vocalists find a supporting
instrumentalist to work with for a nominal fee (subject to notice and availability).
Competition Catchment Area
All competition entrants must reside within the competition catchment area, based upon
the Heart of England School catchment area, or have provable links to the catchment area
either by means of partial residence with legal guardians, or thanks to former pupilship at
any schools of education within the competition catchment area.

Round 1 Heats for which entrant is available
All appointments to appear at Round 1 Heats will be by invitation only, based upon
submissions of an mp3 recording or Youtube clip that meets competition criteria. The
musical perfomance time for Mp3s or Video entries must not exceed 3 minute 30 seconds.
There is an additional allowance of no more than 20 seconds for competition entrants to
make a personal introduction and/or exit comments with their mp3 or YouTube/video
submissions.

secured.

Main prize (overall competition winner)
12 month recording and management arrangement with competition sponsors Brum Beat
Music Ltd. Winner’s package includes help getting recorded and published, with coaching,
mentoring, marketing and promotional support. This will include help securing radio airplay
and live performances at reputable music venues.
Additional category winner’s prizes as secured by Balsall Common Festival Committee and/
or Brum Beat Music Ltd.,

General conditions terms and disclaimers
All entrants can be photographed, recorded and/or filmed for event publicity purposes.
Competitors will have free access to all venues whilst competing in the competition.
Friends and family will be subject to any and all entrance fees charged at competition
venues. All proceeds are used to cover costs of staging the competition, with any surplus
passed to the Balsall Common Festival fund.
All judges decisions are final and correspondence cannot be entered into by competitors
or their representatives.
Competitors enter at their own risk.
