New Beginnings
Psalms: 25v 4-1,
Although the year is moving on, we can still make a
new beginning. “How did you learn to skate”?
Someone asked the winner of a competition, the
answer was, by getting up every time I fell down.
Our life is a series of new beginnings, of falling
down and getting up again. When we stumble we
often think, I’ve failed again, I might as well give
up. But God is the God of new beginnings. He not only forgives our sins,
but He also uses our failures to make us wiser, although sometimes our
pride can cause us to resist starting again. In Ps: 25 David shows a heart of
humility by praying for forgiveness, in verse 7, he asked the Lord to forgive the sin of his youth and he rejoiced that God teaches sinners. In verse
9, God guides and He instructs the humble.
John Newton, the composer of ‘Amazing Grace’, expressed a similar perspective. He said though I’m not what I ought to be, nor what I wish to be
nor yet what I hope to be, but I can truly say I’m not what I once was, but
by the grace of God I am what I am.
If we feel like a failure, we can go to the Lord in humility and He will show us that He is the
God of new beginnings. Failure is never final. Lam: 3v22-23. Through the Lords mercies we
are not consumed, because His compassion fails not, they are new every morning and
great is His faithfulness.
By: Brother Simon Emmanuel.
Hospitality Sunday
A Time Of Sharing
Sunday 28th June 2015
Do you find that there just isn’t enough time to speak with people after church, or that you
sometimes don’t get a chance to speak with folks as they are a part of second service or the
Lyndhurst Estate? Well then Hospitality Sunday is something that we would like to host on
the 28th June.
Hospitality Sunday is a day where we would like Beacon family, new and seasoned, to share a
meal and time together. The day will be a time for everyone (guests and host) to bring and
share food the home of the host. Time will be spent getting to know your Beacon family.
A list will be up over the next 2 weeks; please complete the relevant section, identifying
whether you would prefer to be a host or a guest!

Why is Beacon here?
Beacon Church is here to show and to tell our community the
good news of Jesus and to build and nurture the body so each
one is ready, willing and able to take on this task
We began in 1987 as a union of three smaller churches with a vision
to be a ‘Beacon’ of the good news of Jesus, shining from the top of the
hill to Handsworth.
We believe God has said to us quite clearly that we are to Go, be fruitful and multiply and we seek to work this out in each area of life.
Go on...Join in and see the benefit of being in God’s family!
We meet in small groups each week for prayer and fellowship and just to enjoy one
another’s company! In our groups we are learning how to reach out together in mission. You
will be welcome at any of our groups:
