of events and activities. www.trinitywalk.com
Overview
As part of this year’s 4th annual Wakefield Lit Fest (18-27 September 2015), Beam and
Trinity Walk are seeking to appoint an Artist and Writer to work together to create a new
bespoke arts commission that responds to the Trinity Walk Shopping Centre, engaging a
wide variety of people (including customers, staff, businesses and local community groups)
and with a particular focus on children and families. Artists and Writers are encouraged to
apply as an existing partnership – but are also welcome to apply as individuals.
Aims
• Create exciting creative opportunities at Trinity Walk to entertain existing shoppers and
to attract new audiences to the Centre with a focus on a child and family audience.
• Create a ‘buzz’ – engaging Trinity Walk users with creative reading and writing
opportunities as part of Wakefield Lit Fest 2015
• Provide opportunities for positive PR relating to: the activity and Trinity Walk; support of
Wakefield Lit Fest; support of the Wakefield creative community; and community groups
which border the site
Process
The selected Writer and Artist will be required to spend some time at the Centre (be ‘in
residence’) – engaging with the communities of businesses and shoppers in order to
develop a proposal for a series of performances, workshops or activities to take place on
site at Trinity during the Wakefield Lit Fest (18-27 September 2015) with a focus on
collaborative storytelling, which should include opportunities for interaction, especially for
children. The activity may take place outside or inside shop units or spaces as appropriate
and as agreed with Trinity Walk management.
1 As well as engaging with children and families, the Writer and Artist will also be encouraged
to engage with businesses on site and to inspire their involvement with the activity and the
wider Lit Fest. The Writer and Artist may also choose to engage with local community
groups local to the Centre.
Additional Information
• Beam and Trinity Walk will support the commissioned Artist and Writer to make local
contacts and connections and to source relevant information as required
• Beam and Trinity Walk will undertake overall marketing and evaluation of the project
however, we also encourage the selected Artist and Writer to document the
development of the project and promote the collaborative commission
• The selected Artist and Writer will be required to undertake a DBS check for this project
