DEVELOPMENT OFFICER FOR PUBLIC GRANTS
Position Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Atlanta BeltLine is the largest public infrastructure redevelopment program in Atlanta’s history
that includes 22 miles of light-rail (streetcar) transit located in the Atlanta BeltLine corridor, 33 miles
of trails, over 1,300 acres of new parkland, several miles of new streets and streetscapes, public art,
brownfield reclamation, and the creation of several thousand jobs and affordable housing units in the
neighborhoods surrounding the underutilized railroad corridor.
The Development Officer for Public Grants actively supports Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. (ABI) by identifying
and applying for public funding opportunities at the federal, state, local and regional government
levels. The Development Officer for Public Grants will report directly to the Director of Government
Affairs and will also coordinate and collaborate with Executive and Senior Team staff members to
identify funding needs for various aspects of the Atlanta BeltLine program. This position works
closely with the Communications and Media Relations, and Program Management teams in the
development of grants and takes the lead responsibility for identifying new grant opportunities, grant
writing, and grant management with funders. The Development Officer for Public Grants will identify
grants and funding opportunities and manage the pre- and post-funding process. The position will
effectively collaborate with the Finance Department and/or staff to prepare program budgets,
monitor grants, and prepare reports. The position will also coordinate with ABI partner organizations
including the City of Atlanta, Invest Atlanta, and the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES






Create and implement annual strategy to prioritize funding needs and grant opportunities for the
Atlanta BeltLine.
Lead and manage securing grant opportunities from public agencies including identifying funding
opportunities, working with the Atlanta BeltLine Senior team and staff to write grants and
develop submissions to federal, state and other entities.
Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential public funders as part of the ABI
team.
Develop a robust strategy to identify and manage funding opportunities, grant awards,
monitoring, and tracking of compliance and reporting to funding agencies. Work with the Finance
Department to prepare reports.
Manage the implementation of grants pre- and post-funding process.
Identify and work with GIS and Information Technology Administrator to implement a software
solution to track, submit, and monitor grants.

Research, analyze, conceptualize and/or review creative public funding opportunities.
Represent the ABI at public presentations and events.
Other relevant duties, as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Policy or related field.
Master’s in Business, Public Policy, Public Administration, or related highly
desirable.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in
grants development and demonstrated success in obtaining government
grants. In addition, the candidate will have worked on the pre- and postgrant funding process. Equivalent combination of education, training and
experience will be given consideration.
Required Skills:
Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write
clearly and persuasively. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and
thorough understanding of strategic development to secure funding for
Atlanta BeltLine Inc. programs.
