The duvet cover is used to protect the duvet from soil. A hook and loop* closure at the foot allows the duvet to be inserted and removed
easily. Since it is reversible, the two sides can match or complement your bed sheets, furniture, and/or draperies. Construct the duvet
with bed sheets and eliminate the top sheet! Try a solid on one side and a print on the other or use our ultralight hand-guided quilting
on one side. *Zipper or button closures available upon request.

Important Information
We serve only bona fide interior design businesses. If you need additional catalogs or price lists, drop us a line with your request. Price lists and order forms
are also available on our website (www.smithsoninc.com). We automatically mail new price lists to all who have done business with us in the past year. Our
prices are normally good for the calendar year, but we reserve the right to adjust them, as necessary, without notice.
Due to the custom nature of our service, the catalog and price list are only a starting point for truly customizing your customer’s desires.
Ordering Information
We always mail an acknowledgement of your order stating all measurements, projected shipping date and price. Upon receipt of your order and fabric, we
check for clarity of your instructions, sufficient fabric, how we will cut the fabric, and figure the pricing. If we have any questions or problems, we will not
cut your fabric or process your order any further until we contact you and receive your written answer. If we have no questions or problems with your
fabric, we will process your order and mail your acknowledgement.
Your Fabric
We recommend your fabric be sent rolled on a tube to avoid wrinkling. A minimum labor charge of $19 is made for ironing out wrinkles. We will not be
responsible for unused fabric unless you specify its return on our order. We have to assume fabric sent to us for processing is free from objectionable
imperfections. We will not be responsible for flaws in your fabric. We do examine your fabric as closely as possible while cutting and sewing, but will not
guarantee flaws will be detected. If an imperfection is found, work is stopped and your order put aside while you are contacted and an answer is received.
If we are directed to proceed using the flaw, the order is rescheduled as of the date we receive your approval. If we are directed to return it to you or your
supplier, you will be charged inspection and handling fees ($19 minimum) as well as the transportation costs. Close inspection of fabric prior to sending it
will save you time and money. If your fabric has acceptable flaws, note and mark them and we will try to work around them. When ordering fabric to be
drop shipped to us from your supplier, make a firm request that close inspection must be made of the cut prior to shipping to Smithson.
Batting
Our batting is white 100% polyester fiber. The normal thickness weighs 6 ounces per square yard or 3 ounces per square at no charge. A heavier 10-ounce
batting is standard in comforters and offered as an extra cost item except the 1800 series quilting designs. When fabric is quilted for use as upholstery, a
slightly different batt is used. See “Upholstery” below. We also have a thin flannel weight batting for applications where you desire very little loft.
Thread
Matching thread is used on all hand-guided quilting unless otherwise specified. Since multi-needle machines (1800 series patterns) use many needles, several
hours are required to change thread color. For this reason, a clear nylon monofilament thread is used which blends with any color.
Upholstery
Specify when a fabric is to be used for upholstery and we will use 6 ounce per square yard polyester batting with a thin layer of polyfoam on top to hold the
puff and improve the wearing qualities. A non-woven polyester lining is used for the same purpose. It is to your advantage to have your upholsterer cut your
fabric prior to sending to us for quilting. This prevents wasting of quilted material. Just be sure that they allow an extra 10% in length and width on all pieces.
Quilted fabrics should not be stretched too tightly when applied to furniture since this causes much of the puff to be lost. The batting used for upholstery
cannot be used on the multi-needle machines and for this reason we do not recommend multi-needle quilting for upholstery use: also.
Measurements
All mattresses are not “standard” size and there is no “standard” distance from the top of the bed to the floor. In order for your custom spread to fit we must
have three measurements: Width, length, and drop in inches. From our experience, we have found that box springs often do not have the same dimensions as the
mattress. Especially when measuring for a dust ruffle, we advise you to measure the dimensions of the box spring.
Telephone Orders
Orders for stocked merchandise by telephone are welcomed and are handled promptly although a written confirmation is requested. Measurements and various
other instructions pertaining to specially fabricated items must be in written form and cannot be accepted by telephone.
Liability
Due to the possibility of great disparity between the value of your fabric and the work to be performed, we limit our liability to an amount not to exceed
twice the amount of charges scheduled for labor.
Invoicing
Your invoice is mailed to you when your order ships. Statements are mailed to accounts with past due invoices.
Terms
Our normal terms to well-rated accounts are net 30 days (i.e. Payment received by us within 30 days of invoice date). Any customer who has not done business
with us in the past year will be considered as a new account. Shipments will be made on a CBD, COD or Credit Card basis until a credit check is made.
Overdue amounts are penalized at the highest legal rate. We are quite aggressive in collecting all receivables and penalties.
Delivery
Since ours is a custom business, delivery depends on the number of orders on hand at the time your order is put in work. When your order is entered, an
acknowledgement is made by mail and approximate delivery date is given. The date is made on the assumption the fabric is usable, that instructions are clear
and that there is sufficient yardage provided. If you send an order and acknowledgement is not received within ten days, please contact us and tracing
procedures will be initiated at once.
Claims and Shipping Insurance
Please inspect your order upon receipt. If there is a discrepancy or damage, save all packaging materials and notify us. We will not honor any claims on
invoices over 30 days old. We will not honor alterations or repairs without prior approval. We insure your order for the amount of our invoice plus $100.
If the cost of your fabric exceeds $100, please advise if you desire additional insurance.
