A. BORDER BLOCKS: Make seventy-eight 31/2" x 5" and four 5" blocks.
1. Mark a line with a pencil and ruler from corner to corner on the backs of
the 2" c squares.
2. For each block, place a 2" c square right
sides together on one corner of a 31/2" x 5"

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS:
B. PAIL BLOCK SASHING: (refer to Quilt Diagram)
1. Place the 21/2" x 161/2" B strip right sides together with the bottom of the pail
block. Sew in place and press the seam allowance toward the sashing.
2. Place the 21/2" x 181/2" B strip right sides together with the right side edge of
the pail block. Sew in place and press the seam allowance toward the sashing.
C. PINWHEEL BLOCKS: Make four 61/2" blocks.
1.Cut eight 37/8" E d squares in half diagonally once. Ed
2.Cut eight 37/8" S d squares in half diagonally once. Sd
3.Sew the blocks together as shown in Figure 4.
D. HALF-SQUARE-TRIANGLE BLOCKS:

Make thirty-eight.
1.Assemble the 37/8" d squares/colors using the quilt diagram as your guide.
2.These blocks are two light colored triangles
sewn together.

F. CHURN DASH BLOCKS: Make eighteen 61/2" blocks.
1.Assemble the blocks/colors using the quilt photo as your guide: the center
is a 21/2" square (g), plus four dark 11/2" x 21/2" rectangles (f), four light
11/2" x 21/2" rectangles (f), two dark 27/8" squares (e) and two light
27/8" squares (e) per block.
2. Cut two dark 27/8" e squares in half diagonally once.
3. Cut two light 27/8" e squares in half diagonally once.
4. Sew the blocks together as shown in Figure 7.

Refer to the quilt diagram while assembling.
1. Follow the Quilt Diagram and photo for constructing the quilt center
paying attention to the position and direction of blocks.
2. Sew 31/2" x 541/2" L borders to the right and left side edges of the quilt.
3. Sew 31/2" x 511/2" L borders to the top and bottom edges of the quilt.
4. Sew 2" x 601/2" E borders to the right and left side edges of the quilt.
Sew 2" x 541/2" E borders to the top and bottom edges of the quilt.
5. Sew together the pieced outer border blocks as shown.
6. Add the right and left side borders to the quilt, and then the top and bottom
borders with their 5" corner blocks, to the top and bottom edges.
7. Add the 2" x 721/2" E borders to the right and left sides of the quilt. Add the
top and bottom 2" x 661/2" E borders to complete the quilt top.
FINISHING:
1. Prepare backing with a vertical seam to
measure 84" x 75". Press seam open.
2. Layer quilt top, batting, and backing.
Baste layers together.
3. Quilt as desired.
4. Trim the batting and backing even
with the quilt top.
5. Join eight 21/2" x 42" H binding strips.
Apply binding to quilt using your
favorite method.
6. Embroider around elements on the panel blocks to enhance them and
embellish your quilt!

5. Cut seven 27/8" squares. Cut in half diagonally once.
B.Pattern #24930 – RED1 (words):
1. Measure compeleted pillow top and cut one matching rectangle
for backing.
C.Pattern #24932 – RED1 (dots):
1. Cut seven 37/8" squares. Cut in half diagonally once.
2. Cut fifty-six 17/8" squares. Cut in half diagonally once.
D.Pattern #24934 – LTBEI1 (linen):
1. Cut one 16" x 21" rectangle.
EMBROIDERY INSTRUCTIONS:
Trace:
1. Trace the design onto 16"x 21" background fabric D using a .01
Brown Pigma Pen. The dots should be traced as tiny dots for French
knot placement. All lazy daisy leaves should be traced as a tiny dot at
the pointed end of the stitch.
2. Press your traced fabric well and press a 16" x 21" piece of white muslin for
backing the stitchery.
3. Layer the two pieces of fabric and hand baste them together close
around the design area and through it in open places. These stitches
will be removed when stitching is complete.
Stitch:
1. Everything is stitched using 2 strands of red embroidery floss. I prefer
Cosmo Embroidery Floss #4300.
2. Remove basting threads, press stitchery well and trim it to 101/2" x 151/2" by
cutting a piece of freezer paper exactly that size. Position the freezer paper
template over the stitchery and center it. Press in place and use a rotary
cutter and ruler to trim off all excess fabric around the edges of the template.
Peel off the template.

Finishing:
1. Measure your pillow top and cut a piece of fabric B that size for the
pillow back, approximately 201/2" x 251/2".
2. If you’d like, you can add rickrack or ball fringe along the edges of the
pillow top.
3. Place the top and back right sides together and sew around the edges,
leaving an 8" opening in the bottom edge for turning.
4. Turn right side out, stuff, and sew the opening closed to complete
the pillow!
