The flight into Paro on our national carrier, Druk Air, is a befitting introduction to the spectacular beauty of our country. In clear weather, magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land. First gift from Bhutan will be the cool, clean fresh air as you step out of the plane. After clearing customs and visa control you will be brief by our guide and transferred to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive will take around one hour. Thimphu has a population of about 100,000. The town is made up of just three lines of shops and is the only capital in the world without traffic lights. In the evening, we will visit the Handicrafts Emporium, where all types of Bhutanese handicrafts are made and sold, overnight at Hotel Day 02: Thimphu – Dochula – Thimphu Thimphu sightseeing includes visit to the Institute of Traditional Medicine; the National Library, stocked with priceless ancient bhuddist manuscripts and the Arts and Craft school, where children still learn ancient art of Buddhist painting. Other highlights include a visit National Memorial Chorten, built in honor of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk; Zilukha Nunnery; Folk Heritage Museum; Textile Museum; Bhutanese Handmade Paper Factory. Afternoon depart to Dochula, an ancient capital of Bhutan. Leaving Thimphu the road climbs steeply through a forest of pine and cedar, festooned with hanging lichen high up near Dochula pass (3,050 m). This Pass often offers panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain ranges. Dochula pass is located on the way to Punakha from Thimphu. The pass is a popular location among tourists as it offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of Himalayan mountain range. The view is especially scenic on clear, winter days with snowcapped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass. Known as the Druk Wangyal Chortens- the construction of these108 chortens was commissioned by the eldest Queen Mother, Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk. The pass is also popular spiritual destination for both locals and tourists because an important temple is located on the crest of Dochula pass. The Druk Wangyal Lhakhang (temple) was built in honor of His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The past and future appears to merge in the details of the lhakhang (temple) and its structure tells the story of a supreme warrior figure, whose vision pierces the distant future in a fine blend of history and mythology. Bhutanese families enjoy visiting the pass during holidays and weekends to picnic and simply enjoy the scenery. It is common to see families and groups of friends seated amongst the chortens, enjoying a packed lunch and hot tea. For tourists this is ideal location to capture beautiful pictures of Himalayan mountain range during clear, warm days. Day 03: Depart from Paro (by Druk Air). In the morning our escort will bid you farewell at Paro airport. Good-bye and happy journey back home. www.biitte.org.bt Transforming Bhutan into a Knowledge Based Society Bhutan International IT & Training Event Program Details Schedule 08:45-08:50 08:55-09:00 09:00-09:10 09:10-09:20 09:20-09:30 09:30-09:35 Keynote Speakers Activity DAY 1: 30th April 2015: Venue Hotel Le Meridien: Thimphu Arrival of Chief Guest Marchang Ceremony Welcome Address by President BICTTA Address by President ASOCIO Address by H.E.
