House of the Former Chancellor Konrad Adenauer Adenauer House Rhöndorf Konrad Adenauer, the first postwar Chancellor of Germany led his country from the ruins of the World War II to a prosperous nation. During his years in power, Germany achieved democracy, stability, international respect and economic pro sperity. At Christmas 1937, Konrad Adenauer’s family moved to their new home in Rhöndorf. Many bars from northen to southern Italy offer a buffet of hot and cold appetizers to accompany drinks. It’s not finger food, it’s not tapas but some thing more sophisticated! In this course we will cook together hot and cold small dishes, from little appetizers to delicious dishes in small portion in order to change and enrich your parties. Furthermore, we will try to recreate the same "bar atmosphere" as amused as relaxed Italians do when they finish work. Saturday, 13.6.2015, 1.30 to 4 pm Elke Burbach and Britta Krollmann Meet at: Poppelsdorfer Schlossweiherbrücke Right next to Poppelsdorfer Schloss Fee: 7 € (no reduction possible) 1984 Places of Democracy in Bonn A Guided Cycle Tour Between 1948 and 1990, Bonn was the capital of West Germany and after the fall of the Iron Cur tain, it remained the seat of government of united Germany until 1999. This guided cycle tour will take us to visit some of the most significant places of democracy in Bonn. The first stop will be the Museum Alexander Koe nig, which was used by the parliamentary council and also as Chancellor’s office for Konrad Ade nauer. Among other places, we will ride by and hear information about the Bundestag (Parlia ment), the former Bundeskanzleramt (Office of the Chancellor), as well as former embassy buil dings. The tour, guided by Elke Burbach from the Ger man Cycling Club ADFC and Britta Krollmann from VHS, will be approximately 15 km long and will start and end at the Poppelsdorfer Schloss weiherbrücke. Duration of tour: approx. 2 1/2 hours, there will be a coffee break at the end, which is not included in the fee. Please bring your own bike! Saturday, 27.6.2015, 8.15 am to 6 pm Dr. Inge Steinsträßer and Rainer Dobbelstein Meet at Infostand Main Railway Station Fee: 37 € (no reduction possible) 1986 Dreampath "Hatzenporter Laysteig" Wine Culture and Panoramic Views over the River Mosel A Guided Walk with English Commentary In 2006 new hiking paths along the rivers Rhine, Mosel and around the Eifel, the "dream paths", were presented to the public. They are superbly located and guarantee untroubled hiking delights. Our tour takes us to the "Hatzenporter Laysteig", the name "Hatzenport" stemming from the Latin "Hattonis Porta", meaning harbour. Worth seeing are besides beautiful picturesque halftimbered buildings two churches and the old ferry tower. Our way leads us up to the heights across a stri kingly steep slope. Walking along demanding vi neyard paths we arrive at the refuge of the Rabenlay where we enjoy splendid vistas over the Mosel valley. We continue our walk back to Hat zenport along the hillside ledge, on mellow mea dow paths, through woods and along trails left in their natural state. Trained hikers being surefoo ted and having no fear of heights may climb down across the via ferrata "Dolling". All other hikers walk down to the valley the "normal" path.
