NEWS RELEASE Media Contact for the Chamber: Charles Rudnick, 617.557.7324 CHAMBER LAUNCHES YOUNG PROFESSIONALS NETWORK Boston, MA (March 19, 2015) – The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce today announced the launch of the Greater Boston Young Professionals Network (YPN) – a new program seeking to better engage young professionals in the local community. YPN offers networking, professional development, and community involvement opportunities in a variety of venues for the region’s up-and-coming young professionals. These events will be open to any professional (ages 21-39) within Chamber member companies. YPN formally kicked off last week with a launch event at the TD Garden. More than 100 attendees enjoyed a Celtics victory and heard remarks on leadership from Celtics President Rich Gotham. The next event is scheduled for May 12 at Blazing Paddles, and will feature networking, ping pong, and remarks by Dan Koh, Chief of Staff to Boston Mayor Marty Walsh. “The business community is the direct beneficiary of the talent generated from our world-class academic institutions,” said Paul Guzzi, President & CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber. “Building on our internship initiative and leadership development programs, YPN will strengthen ties between young professionals and this region to both help participants build their networks and get involved in the community, and also to encourage younger generations to stay here and build their careers in Greater Boston.” Individuals who participate in the Young Professionals Network will have opportunities to attend unique events with opportunities to gain insights from senior business leaders; develop leadership abilities through professional development workshops; build professional networks – with access to hundreds of new contacts; and deepen engagement in the local business and civic communities. YPN is one of the Chamber’s new “Innovation Initiatives” designed to foster and promote growth of the region’s innovation economy. These initiatives will continue to be rolled out throughout the year.
