A big thank you to Debbie Pearmain for presenting a very interesting and informative talk about Building Resiliency in our kids this past Monday. Parents in attendance were thoroughly engaged from start to finish. We appreciate Debbie's time and effort in supporting our school, PAC, students and parents. Donations of $110 were raised at this interesting, informative and thought-provoking presentation. The Problem with Discipline NVPAC is pleased to announce a free parent education event. Christopher Burt, a Parenting and Family Development specialist, will present "The Problem with Discipline", a discussion on how parents can effectively influence their children's behaviour through the school years. Mr. Burt's remarks will be of interest to parents of children and youth in grades K to 12. These photos are due March 31. The photos should be one baby photo, one photo at age 3 – 5 years, and one at age 8 – 11 years. We will provide the current Grade 7 photo. 3PointBasketball -‐ After School Program 3PointBasketball is a children's basketball program designed age specific to encourage and develop fundamental basketball skills in a positive learning environment. The program is available to K-3 students at École Boundary Elementary. K-1 - Tuesday April 14-June16 2-3 - Thursday April 16-June 18. Please see the 3PointBasketball website, http://3pointbasketball.com for registration and details pertaining to Boundary. The cost for the program is $150 for 10 weeks. Registration is limited to 12 students per grade, on a first come, first serve basis. Student Safety -‐ Valet Service Michelle Bernard, a parent volunteer, is putting together a traffic safety committee. Michelle is looking for at least one parent volunteer a morning to supervise the grade 6 & 7 students while they are on "valet traffic duty". This is a great way to get involved with the school and help ease traffic congestion in the mornings. Time commitment would vary depending on the volunteer's availability. Time commitment could range from one day a week for 30 minutes, to a few days a week. If you are able to sign up to help support the safety of our children, please email Michelle at michaelasbernard@gmail.com. community news Lego Madness Do you love Lego? We do too! Join us at the library for a fun, fantastic (and free!) program. We’ll provide the Lego, and your task will be to let your imagination run wild. Play, create and experiment as you choose. Location: Lynn Valley Library Time: Monday, March 9, 2015 - 2:00pm to 3:30pm Red Cedar Book Club Students in grades 4-7 are invited to join the Red Cedar Book Club and choose who wins British Columbia’s Red Cedar Book Award. The Club meets twice a month to discuss the nominated titles, conduct experiments, write reviews and more, and then votes for its favourite books in the spring.
