Good afternoon
It’s that time of year again for The Big Lunch and we thought you may
want to get involved!
The aim is to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK
to have lunch with their neighbours annually on the first Sunday in June
in a simple act of community spirit, friendship and fun. Since starting in
2009, thousands of Big Lunches have taken place in all types of
communities. In 2014, 4.83 million people took to their streets, gardens
and community spaces for the sixth annual Big Lunch.
Why get involved?
Enjoying a Big Lunch is just the start – it’s what can happen after that
really makes the difference!
Here are just a few reasons why you should get people on your street or
community involved and take part in street party history:
The Big Lunch is a simple recipe to have fun with your
neighbours and encourage friendlier, safer neighbourhoods,
which will…

Feed community spirit! As well as sharing a meal you’ll be
meeting new people, be making new friends and
strengthening ties in your community which could see you…

Starting to share more – from conversation and ideas to
skills and resources – so we all end up richer in every sense,
which can also help you to…

Discover common ground across age, class, faith, race and
the garden fence, and remind ourselves that charity begins at
home, or just a couple of doors away, and remember…

To make the third of us who live alone feel connected to
their communities, and, before you know it, you’ve started
to…

The Big Lunch website contains all the information you need to hold a Big
Lunch and you can order FREE pack which contains invites, posters,
seeds, stickers and much more!
Please let us know if this is something your Parish would like to hold.
Kind regards
The Rural Team
The Big Lunch aims to show that we don’t need an occasion to get
together – sometimes it’s nice to spend time with those we live
beside just because, and to do so more regularly too! Join in with
The Big Lunch and become part of the UK’s historic street party
tradition http://www.thebiglunch.com/
