An Easter Prayer
Lord, You have
arisen forever
in my heart!
May the sunrise
remind me to shine in Your light.
May the caress of a gentle breeze
remind me of Your compassion.
May the fragrance of a flower
remind me to blossom in Your love.
May the singing of birds
bring a song of joy to my lips.
And in the closing of each day
may I remember to quietly pray.
Blessed Scalabrini, pray
for us.
If you are moving and will not be returning for the 2015-16 school year, please
notify our school secretary, Ms. Iaboni.
There will be no school for students on
Friday April 3rd and Holy Monday
April 6th.
April 22nd Classes are invited to clean the school
yard and gardens.
JK/SK Registration
Please register your child(ren) asap if they will
be attending Blessed Scalabrini in
September 2015 for the first time. If you have
children already at BSI, you still need to complete registration forms for siblings who will be attending. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Our Lenten Journey began with a morning that included a Cross
Divisional Gathering. Students in grades FDK to gr. 8 worked together to create their Lenten promises that decorate our front
foyer. Special guests Cathy Ferlisi, Trustee, Nancy DiNardo, Superintendent of Education and Patricia Preston, Director of Education, joined the community gathering and enjoyed visiting with students and staff at Blessed Scalabrini. Thank you ‘Yasna’ and
‘Olivia’ for creating such beautiful dresses for our guests.

Effective Use of Our Resources
Blessed Scalabrini students love Math
Prodigy… a fun math game for
Grades 1-8
Students can practice over 300 math skills
at school and at home with Math Prodigy.
Prodigy actively adapts to keep each of our students learning at their

Trustee Message
I am sure that you are as thrilled as I am to be entering this wonderful
season of rebirth and renewal. Not only can we now enjoy some
warmer weather, but we can all look forward to Easter and sharing in
the celebration of all that Jesus brings to our lives.
Our March 27th Civvies Day:
raised $111.30 which will be
donated to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation.
As you continue to prepare for Easter, be steadfast in your walk and
carry the cross with Christ as you journey through Passion Week and come to
your own spiritual resurrection and new beginning. I wish the Concord, Thornhill
and Maple Community a Blessed Easter. May the Risen Christ grant you and
your families a transformed strength and peace on your journey towards Him.
To our students preparing to receive their First Communion or Confirmation, may
God Bless you on your First Communion and Confirmation Day. May the happiness of this celebration continue in your journey of life with Christ.
I am pleased to facilitate a Transitioning Workshop for parents of Special Needs
students on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 7 pm at St. Elizabeth CHS. This
workshop will speak to transitioning from Elementary school to Secondary school
(Grade 8 to Grade 9). Representatives from several organizations represented
on SEAC will be in attendance to offer helpful advice. All parents and caregivers
are welcome to attend.
At its Regular Meeting of the Board, held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, the
Board of Trustees approved the Long Term Accommodation Plan, which includes accommodation proposals for the Board for the next five years. One of
the challenges the Board faces is a surplus in capacity. As a result, the Plan includes a number of Accommodation Reviews, including one for the Concord/
Thornhill area which will begin in the Fall 2015. There will be full public consultations, and information will be shared with you in a timely manner.
Vaughan in Motion is holding its annual Walk to Cure Cancer inside Vaughan
Mills Shopping Centre on Sunday, April 26th, 2015. Schools are being asked to
support fundraising efforts, with prizes for the school that raise the most money. I
am so grateful for the generosity that our school communities demonstrate all
year, and I know we will help to make this the best Walk to Cure Cancer yet! Visit
www.vaughaninmotion.com for more information on this worthy event.
Yasna and Olivia share their
happiness. The girls enjoy working together and creating fantastic creations. (see front pg)
