Hervey Widens the Gap in BRC National Standings
TABER and LAMONT, Alberta -- For the past two weeks, Brian Hervey's name has been in these headlines. A nearly $4,000 weekend in the
past few days means he's now gone three for three.
Hervey earned the win in Taber at the Bar UT Bull-A-Rama on Friday night courtesy of his 84 point effort on Smokin' Oak from the Flying
High Rodeo Co. No one would be successful in the evening's finals.

That win earned the Brandt, AB man 300 points towards the Bull Riders Canada National Standings and $2,580 in prize money.
One night later and 500 kilometers north in Lamont, Hervey bucked off in the long go but was drawn back to the finals due to his time in
that first round. Capitalize he did, finishing third in the Lamont Finals earning another 180 points, and another $1,260.
According to the new BRC National Standings, Hervey leads second place Josh Birks by 570 points for the 2015 Championship. Note that
the maximum amount of points for winning any regular season event is only 400.
Speaking of Birks, he was our event winner on Saturday night in Lamont as the first time the BRC made it's way there in the event's 22 year
history. The Australian bull rider was the only man to ride two bulls for $1,800 in winnings and an important 350 points towards the title.
The win was highlighted by this 85 on Real Deal from Cody Strandquist in the short go.

There was a buckle up for the win too, but Birks won't be wearing it. He promised it to a young fan of his before the event, if he were to
win.
"Yeah, I told Cruz Komont a week before if I won he could have it," Birks said. "I had to stand to my word."
It was tougher once he saw what he was giving away.
"Once I saw the buckle I wanted to keep it," Birks laughed.
He knows the buckle will be cherished forever though.
"He comes over and just loves looking at bulls. We put him on a calf yesterday for the first time as well. He slept the last two nights with
the buckle," Birks added.
The top ride of the weekend was made by the number three man in the BRC, 2007 PBR Canada Champion Tyler Pankewitz. Pankewitz was
86 on Indian Turtle from Vold Rodeo to move him to third up from seventh in the standings.
