Regards, Sharon Burr School Happenings Kids Care Coming to Burr School The Kids Care childcare program is coming to Burr School in the fall of 2015. For over 10 years, Kids Care has been an important part of the Riverfield, Mill Hill and Dwight school communities. We offer our families flexibility with a professional and caring staff. There are no minimum attendance requirements and your child’s schedule can be changed from week to week to suit your needs. If your child does not attend a session, you are not billed. SBAC Testing Schedule Below is the schedule for SBAC testing: Grade 3 – ELA and Math: March 17 – March 27 Grade 4 – ELA and Math: March 30 – April 10 Grade 5 – ELA and Math: April 20 – May 1 Burr PTA Happenings Save The Date Saddle up and mosey on over to the 2015 Burr PTA Parent Social on Saturday, May 30, from 7:00 - 10:00pm, at Johnny Utah's in South Norwalk. This year, it's just a party ... no auction, no raffles! $65 per person includes light dinner fare, open bar, line dancing, DJ and unlimited rides on the mechanical bull. We're fixin' to have a whole mess of fun so mark your calendars and plan to join us for a great night out in SONO. 2015-16 Burr PTA Directory Burr PTA Directory forms came home via backpacks this week. Spring Session of After the Bell is here! The PTA sponsored after school enrichment program’s registration has begun. All classes will be taught by our Burr Staff! Are you spring cleaning and wanting to donate your gently used children's books to make way for new ones? Have your child bring in the books and drop them off in the box at the front desk marked “Kiwanis Read To Grow”. Spread the love of reading to children in need of books. Any questions? Contact Parthena Wollen. 5th Grade Activities We are asking each 5th grade family to contribute $30 per student to help cover some of the costs associated with the fantastic activities described in the letter emailed to all 5th grade families this week. Your Burr PTA is also contributing $25 per student to help with this cost (so for a total cost per student of $55, your PTA contributes $25, and we ask parents to contribute $30). Please make your $30 check payable to Burr PTA and send it to the Fifth Grade Activities box in the front office by April 3rd Please note that the cost of a class field trip organized by the teachers will be separate from this fee. Scholarships are available to offset cost with year-end activities. Please contact Mr. Bluestein for more information. ** Parents – the 5th Grade Field Day at the Italian Center date has been changed from Thursday, June 4th to Monday, June 1st. Please adjust your calendars! ** District Happenings 2015-2016 Board of Education Budget Update Dr. Title presented the BOE Budget to the BOF and BOS on Thursday, 3/12/15. The BOS must decide and vote on the town budget by 3/30 and then the BOF votes on 4/2. The budget then goes to the RTM, with budget hearings scheduled for 4/6-4/8/15, and final vote on the Town Budget set for 5/04/15. There will be a Board of Finance meeting regarding the Town Budget on Saturday, March 28th at 9:30a.m. at FLHS. Public comment will be taken at this meeting. You can also reach other town bodies at the following "one click" email addresses: Board of Selectmen Board of Finance Community 2nd Annual Fairfield Earth Day Art Contest The 2nd Annual Fairfield Earth Day Art Contest for students pre-K through 12th grade to submit artwork relating to the environment and sustainability is now on! This year’s theme is "When I look out my window I’d like to see…” (related to the environment / sustainability). Boxes for hard copy submissions are in all Fairfield Public School offices and Fairfield Public and Pequot Libraries and, when possible, entries may be sent in via email. Through our Projects for Pups-athon, craft sale, and bake sale we raised $2,442.78 (and counting). We greatly appreciate your donations and help.
